An entire year has gone by and I am amazed to find myself writing this note for our first Welcome Home Report of the season! The off season flew by as we planned, planned and planned some more for what we know will be a fantastic season. PARKS OF THE YEAR
Two Welcome Home RGV Member Parks Earn Park of the Year Awards It

is an honor for Welcome Home RGV to announce that two of our member parks, VIP La Feria and Casa del Valle (Alamo), recently won the Texas Recreational Vehicle Association’s Park of the Year award. VIP La Feria was chosen Medium Park of the Year, and Casa del Valle was chosen Small Park of the Year. The Texas Recreational Ve h i c l e A s s o c i a t i o n branched off from the Texas Mobile Home Association in 1974 as a non-profit trade association. The TRVA now has over 500 members and is comprised of manufacturers, dealers, campgrounds and RV parks, suppliers and service firms. John and Ruth Dearinger are the managers of VIP La Feria (www.viplaferia. com and “VIP La Feria RV Park” on Facebook). “Being selected Park of the Year is a great honor,” Ruth said. “All of the hard work we put in and the improvements made each year by Community Mangement Group and Mr. Dougherty (president

of the park) make this a great destination for Winter Texans as well as travelers looking for a top-notch park in which to stay. This hard work has been acknowledged by TRVA. This is not just a local award. It is available for members throughout the state of Texas. Having many friendly people who return each year and volunteer to help out whenever needed (including First Responders, activities, do n a t i o n s t o l o c a l functions) has made VIP La Feria one of the most inviting parks you will ever find in your travels. Our full-time residents are
activities that are planned each winter for their residents. The park’s activities include shuffleboard, tennis, billiards, pickle ball, weekly dances and lessons in ballroom and country dancing. Their active church group meets every Sunday. Resort/Retirement Community Park Managers Gear Up and for Winter Texan Season 2013-2014 Throughout

the summer, resort & retirement community park managers from across the Rio Grande Valley met on a monthly basis for Welcome Home RGV’s Lunch & Learn series. Each month, park managers had the opportunity to network with each other and to discuss topics directly related to the needs of resort & retirement community property managers and their park residents. The meetings were held at a different resort each month, providing the property managers with an opportunity to tour communities across the Valley. Host properties included Alamo Rose in Alamo, Brookridge Retirement in

Pharr, Winter Ranch in Alamo, Trophy Gardens in Alamo, Snow to Sun in Weslaco, and Trails End in Weslaco.
