Memorial Day Parades and Events Honor the Fallen YORK COUNTY Unless otherwise noted, all parades take place Monday, May 25. Berwick American Legion Auxiliary Charles S. Hatch Unit 79 will distribute red poppies for donations on National Poppy Day Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23. Locations include Mainely Local Yolks (43 ME236, Berwick, 207-715-0320); Kennebunk Savings Bank (49 Sanford Rd., Wells, 142 Main St., Ogunquit, 104 Main St., Kennebunk); and the Berwick Post Off ice (6 Sullivan St., Berwick, 207-715-6001) during

business hours. Wearing the poppy on National Poppy Day and throughout Memorial Day weekend is

one small way to honor and remember our fallen warriors who served the nation and made the ultimate sacrifice for the coun-

The Berwick Memorial Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. at Berwick Town Hall, 11 Sullivan St., concluding at 12:30 p.m. The parade will feature musicians in grades 8–12 marching under the Noble High School banner, area veterans and auxiliaries, local scout troops, and the Berwick Fire Department. The event will be held rain or shine; in the event of rain, the observance will take place at 11 a.m. in the Town Hall auditorium. Participants should arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. Parade

proceeds from Sullivan Street, turns right onto Wilson and Allen Street/Route 236, and continues to Lord’s Cemetery, where a short service will be held. Parade then reforms and marches down Sawmill Hill to the Somersworth-Berwick Bridge for a brief ceremony honoring those lost at sea before reconvening in Sullivan Square for a ceremony and a roll call of Berwick veterans who lost their lives in previous wars. Capes Fly at Superhero Family Fun Beach Run OGUNQUIT Rett’s Roost has announced the return of its beloved Superhero Family Fun Beach Run, taking place on Sunday, June 7 at North Beach in Ogunquit. Coinciding with the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Pride celebration weekend, the event welcomes runners and walkers of all ages. Superhero costumes and Pride flair are highly encouraged! The morning kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with check-in at the Moody/North Beach parking lot, 2 Ocean Ave., Wells. Kids’ sprints begin at 10 a.m. for children ages 10 and younger, followed by the main 2.5-mile run/walk along the shoreline to Ogunquit Beach
