14th Annual Kittery Block Party: Saturday, June 21 KITTERY The Kittery Block Party, an annual tradition now in its 14th year, will be held Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents and visitors from near and far are invited to attend the funfilled, daylong festival, which celebrates local art, culture, and food while strengthening community ties in a vibrant neighborhood atmosphere. All events, as well as parking and shuttle services, are free. The party takes place in

the Kittery Foreside, where the streets will be filled with local vendor booths, delicious food, and entertainment. The event will stretch from Government Street

through Wallingford Square and continue to Walker and Wentworth streets. Live music performances will be held at three different music stages: Main Stage, Black Birch, and Kit Supply + Co. The Family Stage will feature kidfriendly performances from noon to 3:30 p.m. The celebration features an extensive selection of vendors offering unique and delightful goods, a diverse lineup of captivating live music across genres, engaging strolling entertainers,

a dedicated children’s area filled with exciting activities, and a mouthwatering array of local eats at the food truck pod stations. Whether attendees are food enthusiasts, music lovers, or simply seeking a fun-filled day out with family and friends, the Kittery Block Party offers something for everyone to enjoy – regardless of age. Parking will be available at Traip Academy, the Kittery Post Office, the Kittery Community Center, and York Hospital Kit-

tery. A free shuttle will operate throughout the day between the parking areas and the event. Two bike parking corrals will be available for those arriving by bike: one on Government Street at the Second Christian Church of Kittery, and the other on Wentworth Street across from the Rice Public Library. BBF for Family Literacy Celebrates Barbara’s Centennial ARUNDEL The Barbara Bush Foundation (BBF) for Family Literacy hosted its Maine Celebration of Reading on Tuesday, June 10, at the Vinegar Hill Music Theatre in Arundel. This signature event, held to raise support for the BBF’s nationwide literacy work, featured appearances by New York Times bestselling authors and special guests including Claire Lombardo, Dani Shapiro and Chris Whitaker, as well as a video message from Jenna Bush Hager. YORK The parking lots and fields of York High School will be transformed into a dreamscape for car aficionados of all stripes, when the seventh annual York Auto Show is expected to draw as many as 500 cars, trucks and motorcycles on Sunday, June 22. Funds raised during the event will go to the York High School Athletic Boosters. Twothirds of the student body at York High participate in sports in some way, as athletes or managers, but even those who do not participate benefit from the community the school’s athletic events create. Pride Garden Party at Historic Jewett House SOUTH BERWICK Now in its fourth year, the Pride Garden Party at the Sarah Orne Jewett House celebrates the LGBTQ community and its allies on Friday, June 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited to join Historic New England for an evening of cocktails and light fare in the gardens while mingling with costumed interpreters portraying historic Maine author and LGBTQ icon Sarah Orne Jewett, her partner Annie

Fields, and members of their inner circle. Guests can enjoy 19th-century-inspired entertainment, live music, and lawn games. The first floor of the historic house will be open for tours, and visitors are encouraged to wear their most creative garden party attire.
