Locals Take Part in “Dark Harbor” Film

Filming of “Dark Harbor” took place at Brewed Awakenings in Wells. Pictured is Sterling Hurst (yellow shirt), Connor Trinneer (officer in green), and Jessica Sipos (blond hair with back to camera).

By Nancy McCallum, Staff Writer SEACOAST If you get the chance to see Dark Harbor, a suspense film that will be released by summer of 2019, look closely, as you might see some local people you know. That barista pouring coffee could be Jacqueline Maude, owner of Brewed Awakenings in Wells. Does one of the extras in the funeral home scene look familiar? It could be, as funeral director Doug Bibber was in scenes shot at Bibber Memorial Chapel in Kennebunk. The production crew from North of Two, a film company

based in Los Angeles, travelled to Maine in late October to shoot scenes in several Maine locales, including Portland, Standish, Boothbay Harbor, Lincolnville and Isleboro. The film is being co-produced with APS Films. Theresa Przybylek, North of Two’s office coordinator, describes the story as “… a thriller about a Maine native that comes home from the big city when her father dies. She finds herself at the center of her father’s secret life unraveling. It is a contemporary Hitchcockian suspense thriller.” The movie is not a remake of a similarly named movie re-

leased in 1998 (and which also included filming in Maine). Dark Harbor is a screenplay written by Joe Raffa, also the film’s director. The cast includes Jessica Sipos, Meagen Fay, Joel McHale, Xander Berkeley (who owns property in Maine), Connor Trinneer, Jillian Armenante, and Sterling Hurst. “The state of Maine is essentially a character in the movie - its beauty and mystery - not to mention the time of year (and) the dramatic foliage,” Przybylek said. “Our cinematographer Edwin See FILM page 8...
