Lynzi Pacitti: Leading Down the Field By Dan Campanella, Staff Writer YORK Lynzi Pacitti’s love for football started when she was five years old. Growing up in family where football was not the sacred sport that it is to many of the families around this area, she found that she had a natural attraction to the constant action. As if to predestine the rest of her life, even at this young age Pacitti understood that if she was to follow any path it would have to be one that she created herself. This drive pushed her to join the York Wild Cats football team in the early 1990’s as a freshman, playing as a running back and safety. After high School she moved on to play with

semi-pro women’s teams in both Maine and Hawaii. In 2010, Pacitti began her coaching career as an assistant coach for a professional women’s tackle football team in Jacksonville, Florida. After three seasons and a perfect 24-0 record during her tenure, Pacitti made the choice to return to her roots by moving back to York. In 2015 she began as the head coach for the Mite Wildcats, a York youth football program for children. It was during this time that Pacitti reconnected with Coach Matt Nelson, who was on the coaching staff when she played football for the Wildcats in high school. When Nelson was picked up as the new Wildcats varsity football

head coach this year, Pacitti’s experience was a logical choice to add to the staff. Now acting as the special team’s coordinator and aiding with the defensive squad for the varsity team, Coach Pacitti also pulls double duty as the head coach for the junior varsity team. “It’s unbelievable to be able to come back to where I started and share what I know. It feels good and familiar. I have a lot of pride because I was a York Wildcat and now I get to coach York Wildcats.” When asked what she brings that is unique, Pacitti says she “has learned a lot from coaching at different levels” and that she “can
