Celebrate Eliot Festival Days September 27-29 ELIOT There will be plenty of fun, crafts, food, music and more at the 39th Annual Eliot Festival Days taking place Friday September 27 through Sunday September 29. The schedule of events include: Friday, September 27 6:30 p.m. Third Annual William Fogg Library Auction and Dance at Regatta Room. Saturday, September 28 8:30 a.m. Eliot Festival Days 5K Road Race and Pumpkinhead Half-Marathon start at

the Eliot Fire Station. 9 a.m. Booths open in downtown Eliot with Flag Raising and singing ā€œGod Bless

Americaā€ at Hammond Park. 10:45 a.m. Parade kicks off from Eliot Boat Basin. 12 p.m. Chalmers Insur-

ance Group Kid’s Fun Run starts at William Fogg Library. 1 p.m. First Annual Eliot Festival Days Outhouse Race at Hammond Park. 3 p.m. Booths close. 4 p.m. Eliot Congregational Church Smorgasbord Supper. Entertainment by Dancin’ DJ Carmen and Mica Peterson ā€˜featuring’ Lewis Goodwin. Colonial reenactment by 2nd Regiment of York County. Performances by Brixham Danceworks and Curtain Call Performing Arts.

17th Punkinfiddle Family Festival WELLS The Punkinfiddle family festival returns to the Wells Reserve at Laudholm for its 17th year on Saturday, September 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Punkinfiddle features old-time games, fun craft activities, surprising science, engaging animals, lively music, traditional arts, tasty food, and miles of smiles in a beautiful seaside setting. Free Recovery Coach Training Offered YORK Since September is Recovery Awareness Month, the York Hospital Recovery Center, Portland Recovery Community Center, and State of Maine Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services, are pleased to join forces to provide a free four-day Recovery Coach Training Program for qualified individuals on September 23-24 and September 30 - October 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day

with lunch provided. The training will be held at the York County Community College in Wells and is designed to prepare participants to actively listen, ask open-ended and relevant questions, and discover and manage their own personal struggles and biases while providing peer-to-peer support for others.

YORK COUNTY The York Police Department recently posted on Facebook that the York County R.I.D.E. Team held a successful night of sobriety checkpoints. The York County R.I.D.E. Team is a regional team whose purpose is to enforce impaired driving laws in York County. The team conducted an impaired driving detail in Kittery, York, Ogunquit, and Wells, on September 13. Fifteen officers

were involved from several area police departments including Kittery, York, Buxton, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Berwick, Wells, York County Sheriff’s Office, and the Maine State Police. In total 136 vehicles were stopped. The detail resulted in the following charges: Three Operating Under the Influence; Five Operating After Suspension; One Criminal Speed; and One Intermediate License Violation.
