Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome but please do not bring in food or drink from outside. All dogs must be kept on a non-retractable leash (no retractable leashes!). Hops-N-Hounds at the farm takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at the Raitt Homestead Farm Museum, 2077 State Road in Eliot.

Tramuto Foundation Scholarship award at the June 6th Scholarship Awards Night. Chase is planning to attend Florida Gulf Coast University where he will major in clinical lab science. Each year the Tramuto Foundation provides scholarships to a senior class member at Bangor High School and Wells High School who have succeeded in the face of adversity to achieve personal excellence. Students are chosen based on their ability, efforts and the determi-
nation they have shown to contend with or overcome the challenges they have faced. Scholarship, community service, school activities, character, leadership qualities and demonstrated financial need are also considered. Sofia Wittmann of Bangor, who co-founded Steps for Souls, a suicide prevention and awareness fundraising event at Bangor High School, was awarded the Tramuto Foundation Scholarship on May 15. “I was very impressed with
the quality of every student at Wells High School who applied for this scholarship,” Foundation Chairman Tramuto said. “However, Matthew is clearly someone who has faced incredible adversity in his young life, but also received the strong support and encouragement of his family, friends and teachers that allowed him to succeed beyond anyone’s expectation. “For someone who was See CHASE page 11...
New Police Chief and Phone App for York PD YORK With last month’s announcement that York’s current Police Chief will be retiring, town manager Steve Burns decided to look within to fill the position rather than engage in an outside search. His choice was Capt. Charles Szeniawski (pictured here with wife Mary-Anne, York’s town clerk and tax collector). Szeniawski has been with the police department for 39 years, coming in just a few years after the current and outgoing Chief was hired, and has followed the progression up the ranks.
