There will be children’s events, live entertainment throughout the day, demonstrations, educational exhibits and of course, great food. This event is sure to entice, educate, and entertain all ages. KBP is a rain or shine event, and there is no admission fee. Parking is available at Traip Academy, Kittery Post Office,

There will be a shuttle circulating during the day for rides to and from the party. Safe Haven Humane Society to Expand to Farm By Joyce McKay, Owner of Safe Haven Humane Society WELLS Safe Haven has bought the farm – literally! Safe Haven has purchased Cattail Farm, a big beautiful property at 1784 Post Road in Wells, opposite Howe’s Flooring (shown in picture). This will give us the space and visibility we’ll need to carry us securely into the future. Eventually, our shelter, Adoption Center, kitten nursery, hospice care and Thrift Shop will all be under one roof of this antique farmhouse, carriage house and enormous, three-story apple barn.

How did we do it? With lots and lots of help, including from the incredible team at the Weekly Sentinel. For years, the Sentinel has given Safe Haven the voice and visibility that’s powered our growth.

This dream came true thanks to the incredible generosity of Dr. Henry LaBrie, his wife Martine, the Gerrish Family Irrevocable Trust, and Jean Foss of Harbor Candy in Ogunquit. We could not have afforded our

down payment without their generosity. Martine and Henry approached Safe Haven months ago, offering to help us grow. They had visited our shelter and saw how sunny and happy it is. They loved seeing the kitties out and about, interacting with each other and our volunteers, instead of cooped up in cages. They were impressed that our volunteers knew each of the kitties by name, and that we treated them like our own children. When they visited our thrift shop, they saw volunteers See HAVEN page 12...
