Barbara Bush Commemorative Book & Plant Sale Benefit
Ganny’s Garden includes a bench with sculptures of a floppy hat, ‘Pride and Prejudice’ book, and pair of Keds shoes which commemorate Barbara Bush.
KENNEBUNKPORT Calling all gardeners! The Kennebunkport Conservation Trust is hosting a plant sale to benefit Ganny’s Garden on Saturday, May 12. Ganny’s Garden is located in the heart of Kennebunkport and was dedicated to Mrs. Bush in 2011. Ganny is the name Barbara Bush was lovingly called by her seventeen grandchildren, and their initials are randomly engraved in the stone walls which surround the garden. The plant sale was on the calendar before Mrs. Bush
passed away. Now, it is even more meaningful. All proceeds will benefit the perpetual care of Ganny’s Garden. Her legacy will forever bloom in Kennebunkport. A visit to the garden is a perfect way to treat mom this Mother’s Day weekend! When you are done plant shopping, take mom for a hike on the trails – located at 57 Gravelly Brook Road, Kennebunkport from 9 a.m. to noon. Barbara Bush Commemorative Book Community Submissions Welcome When Barbara Bush passed
away on April 17, the nation lost one of its most endearing and universally popular figures who seemed like everyone’s grandmother. Since her funeral, the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust has received many calls and emails asking how we can honor Mrs. Bush for all that she has meant to the Kennebunks. You may recall that in September 2011, we dedicated Ganny’s Garden on the Trust’s River Green property in Kennebunkport in her honor. Inspired by a See GARDEN page 6...
