Celebrating Moms At Home This Year While Mother’s Day is a special day to honor the mom in your life and spend time with your family, this year the celebrations have changed due to recent events. According to a recent survey from TopCashback.com, two-thirds of Americans (66 percent) will be celebrating or doing something special for Mother’s Day this year. The survey polled a cross-section of 1,963 adults, aged 18 and over. 66 Percent of respondents
will be at home with my family, 28 percent will be virtually meeting with family via Zoom, FaceTime, etc., and several will visit Mom while staying a safe distance away (stand six feet apart, wave through windows, etc.). A whopping 87 percent of people plan on giving mom a gift this year. While shopping at an actual store may not be an easy option this year, 78 percent of respondents plan to shop online while 22 percent plan to shop inperson at a drug store, grocery
store, etc. The top three gifts include flowers, gift cards, or a phone or video call. 47 Percent intend to spend $50 or less on the Mother’s Day gift, 38 percent plan on $51-$100. While a lavish present may seem like the perfect gift for Mother’s Day, sometimes all mom wants is something a little more simple. Moms in the survey agree most on wanting a break from the mom routine, something homemade, or a gift card.
Whether you’re at home with your family for Mother’s Day or not, here are five budgetfriendly ways to celebrate Mother’s Day at home, according to Rebecca Gramuglia, a consumer expert at TopCashback.com: Create something homemade. Moms love sentimental presents and an easy, inexpensive gift is something homemade. So whether it’s a drawing to hang on the fridge, a homeSee MOMS page 4...

this pandemic. Although we have cancelled our main stage productions, we will continue our mission of providing artistic content in many new ways this year, while also focusing on raising needed funds and planning for an extraordinary 2021 season. Everyone at the playhouse was excited and honored to be presenting these exceptional titles this season. Our hearts are with all the artists, actors, craftspeople, our seasonal staff and crew, who are severely impacted by the upheaval to their professional lives and livelihoods. While the months ahead still hold much uncertainty, it is our mission to be here for future generations and to preserve this beloved historic theatre, and we will do just that. Ogunquit Playhouse has weathered many storms for nearly a
century. Together we will emerge from this crisis and look forward to brighter days when we can gather again at the playhouse,” stated Bradford Kenney, Ogunquit Playhouse Executive Artistic Director. This closure also disrupts the surrounding business community that depend on the theatre as a major economic driver in the region. Over 120,000 ticket buyers visit the playhouse each
season, and in turn patronize regional restaurants, hotels, and retail establishments. Public support during this time will help ensure that the Ogunquit Playhouse continues to share transformative and entertaining shows, new works, and world premieres on its stage for future generations. and show schedules, and thoughtful health and safety planning to protect staff, crew, volunteers, visiting artists, and patrons. The historic non-profit theatre relies on the sale of tickets for 80% of its operating budget so that the cancellation will have a profound financial impact on the playhouse. Despite drastic cost-cutting measures, the organization will incur financial damages exceeding $3 million. Its focus now will turn to raising funds to ensure the financial viability of the playhouse in future endeavors. “Our commitment to the health and safety of our staff, artists, and audiences is our top priority. Although this decision is difficult and heartbreaking, we understand its necessity and are willing to do our part to stop
