The AIP was created by the Eliot Select Board to develop a more livable community and to assist Eliot residents to age in their homes. A recent conversation with State Representative
Eliot ranked #4 among the top ten safest cities in Maine, according to a report by SafeWise. The company’s recently released, 6th annual Safest Cities in Maine report uses FBI crime statistics and US Census population data to rank the safest cities in each state and across the country. Michele Meyer, creator of Eliot Strong, has led to a collaboration to do just that. Eliot Strong is a Facebook page designed to be a community support forum for Eliot. In a matter of weeks, the membership

Local businesses and individuals recently organized a daily donation of meals and treats to the police and fire departments and front-line town staff during the pandemic. “The town staff are so grate-
ful for the amazing outpouring of support we have received from the community. Please know that each smile, wave, card, treat, and meal has meant so much to the police and fire department personnel. We know how lucky we are to work in this community and we want you all to know how thankful we are for you!” The Ogunquit Police Depart-

Local Senior Center Grateful for Service WELLS The Wells Ogunquit Senior Center would like to point out their recent and year-round heroes by citing Mister Rogers – “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” Dick and Sherry Varano, owners of Varano’s Restaurante Italino, Billy’s Chowder House, and Hidden Cove Brewery in Wells, have been providing dinners to members of the senior center twice a week for the past five weeks, and intend to continue until social-distancing is over. Each October and December the family hosts benefit dinners at their restaurants where 100% of the tickets sales are donated to the center. In the spring, they usually host a benefit brewery tour and tasting party at their brewery, which had to be cancelled this year. In 2019, the benefits generated approximately $10,000 for the center! The center has approximately 500 members and is selffunded (no financial support from town, state or federal tax
