Since August 2001, she has led the college’s Division of Faculty and Instruction where she oversees over 600 college employees. “Barbara is known for her devotion to students and her collaborative leadership style, which brings out the best in her faculty and staff. We look forward to her joining the MCCS family,” said Dr. Fitzsimmons in announcing her appointment. Dr. Finkelstein has been

Additionally, she has over thirty years of teaching experience, most recently in the Masters of Higher Education Program at Eastern Nazarene College. Dr. Finkelstein was selected from a field of 36 candidates following a national search. She will succeed Dr. Scott Knapp and Dr. Chris Hall, who served as interim presidents after the 2012 death of YCCC President Dr. Charles Lyons.

servation Act (NAWCA) to help protect lands designated as nationally significant wildlife habitat. Locally, the grant award will provide critical matching dollars to further Kittery Land Trust’s fundraising for the high priority, Brave Boat Harbor Headwaters project and efforts underway by York Land Trust to conserve York River uplands. “We are thrilled,” said Christine Bennett, executive director for KLT, “The timing could not have been better. We recently applied for Land for Maine’s Future (LMF) funding for the Headwaters Project. We’re

hoping that this federal support will help to leverage a state investment in protecting this ecologically important area in Kittery.” “This award will further previous NAWCA investments in our efforts to protect significant habitat along the York River for scores of native fish, songbirds, wading birds and other wildlife,” said Doreen MacGillis, executive director of York Land Trust.
