17th Annual Atlantic Plunge on January 13 at Gooch’s Beach KENNEBUNK Brutally cold temperatures of -30 with windchill on January 6 have forced the 2018 Atlantic Plunge to Benefit Caring Unlimited to be postponed to its storm date of Saturday, January 13 at the same time and place. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Gooch’s Beach on Beach Ave in Kennebunk. The person who has turned in the most pledges at the time of the event will be awarded a Highest Fundraiser prize of a $250 LLBean Gift Card. fire-fighting capabilities. Toyne built Berwick’s newest fire apparatus on Spartan Metro Star MFD 10-inch chassis with the power of Cummins ISL 450 horsepower engines. The fire trucks include 3000 Allison EVS transmissions, and boast the fire-dousing ability of 1200-gallon UPF tanks with Hale Q-Max 1500 gpm pumps. The apparatus also include Fire Research telescoping lights, and will bolster the on-scene effectiveness of the Berwick Fire Department. The department, which is a combination of career

and on-call personnel, receives around 900 calls a year. “Our team is proud to have built these new pumpers for the Berwick Fire Department,� said Michael Schwabe, president and CEO of Toyne, Inc. “We ensure quality in all of the apparatus we build, and we know that these will be great additions to the department and a tremendous help to the first-class firefighters serving in Berwick.� Berwick has a population of around 7,000 people.
