C’MON DOGGIES! Western Bulldogs tragic and MIXX FM musical director Paul Fidler, left, couldn’t help but pull out the colours as his beloved team heads into its first AFL-VFL grandfinal appearance in 55 years. He is pictured with ACE Radio Horsham general manager Scott Grambau, who played with Footscray junior teams in the early 1980s. The Bulldogs take on Sydney at the MCG on Saturday with the potential to win their first premiership flag since 1954. Picture: KELLY LAIRD

IN THIS ISSUE
Wimmera Uniting Care is the lead agency for the project, in a consortium which includes Ballarat Health Services, Barwon Centre Against Sexual Assault, Grampians Community Health, Skillinvest, Tristar Medical Group, Wimmera Health Care Group, Goolum Goolum and Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN. Headspace is part of National Youth Mental Health Foundation’s approach to providing early intervention mental-health services for 12 to 25-year-
olds, as well as promoting young people’s wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. The centre will provide information and services for young people, their families and friends, along with access to health professionals, online counselling services via eheadspace, and a postvention suicide-support program. Wimmera Uniting Care chief execu-
tive Wendy Sturgess said headspace Horsham was a coup for the region and would go a long way to addressing many key issues for youth in the region. “One in four young people have experienced a mental-health issue in the past 12 months – a higher prevalence than all other age groups,” she said. “Alarmingly, suicide is the leading cause of death of young people, accounting for one third of all deaths.” Continued page 3
