Priorities push E

A team busy collating and assessing ideas forged and issues raised at a regional assembly in Horsham last month has isolated the five general categories as priorities in need of government attention and funding.

The submission to the government is the next stage of Regional Development Victoria’s statewide Regional Partnerships program, designed to give regional communities greater say in Victoria’s decision-making process. Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Partnership chairman David Jochinke and deputy Emma Vogel will present priority details to the government during a regional cabinet sitting at Benalla. Mr Jochinke said three meetings involving partnership members and invited guests had ‘pulled apart’ issues and ideas generated by a high-level

10 invited contributors would explore each of the priority areas. “The sessions will be about fleshing out the concepts and establishing how we can make them fit in the Wimmera and southern Mallee,” he said. “We want to be able to work up projects to a level where we can succinctly outline short, mid and longterm objectives.” Mr Jochinke stressed any concepts that might have ‘slipped through the cracks’ during the assessment process could be raised again at next year’s assembly in the middle of 2017.
