A public meeting to discuss a proposed Islamic school in Henry Street will be restricted
to local residents only as Penrith Council tries to avoid chaotic scenes of the past, where outsiders have caused major disruptions to discussions surrounding controversial development applications.
Councillors discussed the school’s development application briefly on Monday night, with the outspoken Marcus Cornish predicting it will be become a “huge issue” in Penrith. No date has been set for the public forum, but
written submissions in response to the development application have been extended after concerns were raised that the initial deadline was too tight. Read the full story on page 12
