he Erskine Park Road intersection with Mamre Road was officially opened on Wednesday by Penrith Mayor, Mark Davies, and Mulgoa MP, Tanya Davies. Formerly a rural intersection of two single lane roads, the Erskine Park Road intersection will act as the gateway for many motorists to the pivotal Erskine Park Link Road. “It really does give me great pleasure to be standing here today at the official opening of such an important intersection in the Penrith LGA,” Cr Davies said.

“Th is is a project that has been of great importance to Penrith Council. There is an incredible amount of traffic that passes through this area, there a number of transport companies, logistical companies and businesses based in this area as well as residents.” He said the road’s opening also symbolises a great partnership between Council and the State Government. “Th is is a $6.6 million piece of infrastructure... the funding of course has been through Section 94 (funding by developers) and Council has delivered the intersection,” he said. Mrs Davies agreed that the road is pivotal for the region.

“It is really great to be standing side by side with Council to open what really is a missing link in important roads infrastructure,” she said. The roadworks included widening of both roads, traffic signals and major drainage works. Meanwhile, Premier Barry O'Farrell said that work on the Erskine Park Link Road is progressing well. “An important milestone has been completed with the second 80 metre long set of dual bridge girders installed for the Ropes Creek Bridge,” Mr O’Farrell said.
