DIVIDED 12 SUB SUBURBS IN HARSH LOCKDOWN AS COVID LOCKD STRIKES IN PENRITH STR TROY DODDS
T
he Penrith Local Government Area (LGA) has been split in two, with 12 suburbs now subject to tighter lockdown restrictions as COVID-19 creeps its way into the area. Residents in Kingswood, Caddens, Orchard Hills, Claremont Meadows, St Marys, North St Marys, Oxley Park, Colyton, St Clair, Erskine Park, Kemps Creek and Mount Vernon were placed under the new rules on Sunday. Residents can only travel within 5km of their home for essential shopping and exercise, while masks must be worn outdoors. Stay home, get tested and get vaccinated,” he told the Weekender. “I know Penrith is up for this challenge. Many people will be tested more than ever before and it’s okay to ask for support. The pathway back to what we know and love is by adhering to the stay at home orders and getting vaccinated.” Ms Berejiklian (pictured left) is pushing vaccinations throughout August, saying the number of “jabs in arms” come the end of the month will determine what restrictions can be lifted.
