THE INNER CITY WEEKENDER

he Olympics are finally over and now it’s time for TV stations to pull out their big guns for 2012 Part II…

So what did we all think of ‘Big Brother’? I must say I was a huge fan of the original series and I wasn’t sure whether I would still have that same passion for the show as I once did. But after watching this week’s run of episodes I must say I’m hooked again and can’t wait to see what happens next. Nine have done a fantastic job of revitalising the series for a new generation of fans. The house is fantastic, the housemates are all very different and it’s great to hear narrator, Mike Goldman, coming through the television speakers once again. So far it looks like an ‘UpLate’ edition and a ‘Friday Night Games’ show will not be happening this year, but I guess Big Brother is full of surprises and we never know what surprise he could pull out of his bag next! Something ‘Big Brother’ related that is

definitely happening is an offshoot program called ‘Big Brother Confidential’. Viewers will get the inside scoop, the late night headlines, see unseen action and discuss various talking points from the Big Brother house. The show launches next Wednesday, August 22 at 10.10pm on Nine. It’s with great regret and sadness that I deliver the news that Ronn Moss aka ‘Ridge Forrester’ from Channel Ten’s ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ is leaving the US soap after 25 years. Production company, Bell Phillip Television, confirmed the exit: “Ronn has spent an amazing 25 years with ‘B&B’, we will always consider him family, and we wish him only the best in all of his future endeavors”. His last episodes are set to screen in Australia by Christmas and will be missed by fans universally.

Risky Channel Seven dramedy, ‘GCB’, has been slated to premiere this Monday, August 20 at 9pm. Only 10 episodes were made before it was axed in the US. ‘Big Brother’ isn’t the only show Channel Nine are returning after a long lay-off, an updated version of ‘Dallas’ hits the small screen again next week, some 21 years since it last aired. ‘Dallas’ will begin on Nine this Wednesday, August 22 at 9pm. The new series is a continuation of the original ‘Dallas’ series and again follows the Ewing family. [Pictured] Conan O’Brien’s talk-show ‘Conan’ has switched from GEM to GO! The popular late-night comedy hour will air around midnight Monday to Friday.

He may have lost his job after 15 years as the ground announcer at Centrebet Stadium, Penrith, but Scott McRae is all smiles as the face of new culinary travel show, ‘Taste of Travel’. The new Channel Ten series will launch in the first week of September on Saturday afternoons. Highly anticipated drama ‘666 Park Avenue’, starring Australian actress Rachael Taylor, makes its Australian television debut on FOX8 next month. ‘666 Park Avenue’ is set in The Drake, a prestigious apartment building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Owned by the mysterious Gavin Doran, The Drake is home to dozens of residents who are unaware they’re living in the embrace of supernatural forces. They think their dreams are all coming true, only to find they’ve been lured into making, what feels like, a deal with the devil.
