Go To Fall Look If you haven’t figured it out by now, fall is our favourite time of the year. It gets colder, we drink hot chocolate like it’s water, we get our Uggs out of storage along with all our lipsticks Morticia Adams would wear. We bring you a host of products we have been slapping on our faces and our go to fall looks.
1. Flawless Complexion:
Something that remains a constant throughout the year no matter what the weather is a flawless complexion. Whether you achieve that through piling layers of foundation on or with minimal products, flawless skin never goes out of style. This fall we’re over the dewy foundations and opting for a semi-matte/satin finish base and adding the glow with a highlighter on top. We love the recently launched All-Nighter Liquid foundation by Urban Decay that true to its name, stays up or rather stays put. It provides full coverage with a modern matte finish that never looks overdone. But what we love the most about this foundation besides its longevity is that even though it has a matte finish, it’s not flat and cakey. The foundation is loaded with three times the pigment that the normal Naked Skin Liquid foundation has so a little goes a long way. It’s waterproof (so you can wear it in summer too) and blurs flaws that giving you beautiful skin. It’s so good it has replaced our beloved Armani Luminous Silk (*gasp* shock horror).
There’s not a single time of the year when we don’t opt for highlighter—it has become that integral to our face makeup. And after managing to collect a few hundred of them, we never stray too far from the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Champagne Pop highlighter—simply put, it is DA BOMB.
3. Pop of Colour:
The (major) key to making a bright blush colour work is all in the placement of the blush. The old rule that you should apply colour on the apples of your cheeks, rarely works. You want to avoid looking like a clown at all costs, unless it’s for Halloween then by all means, continue. Sweep a powder blush or pat a creamy formula on the higher parts of your cheeks going up towards the temples (but not on the actual temples). While colour on the apples of your cheeks may look clownish, colour that is applied higher up makes you look flushed like you’ve just run in from the cold. We go for deeper plum shades on the cheeks because of the bright colour you only need to apply a little. An old favourite is Nars blush in Deep Throat.
We forgo the rule that you have to go for bare eyes if you want to wear a deep shade on the lip. Instead we love wearing shimmery bronze and garnet eyeshadows on the eyes with volumised eyelashes. This eye look goes perfectly with a nude lip or a dark one. We have our eyes peeled for a dupe of the Pat McGrath Labs Gold 001 eye pigment but until then we will continue using our favourite Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow pencil in Bronzed Garnet. Apply colour all over the lid and blend with a fluffy blending brush for a mono colour eye look.
5. Oxblood Lips:
And this is where the real drama starts. Deep, almost-black, vampy, oxblood lipsticks is what our heart truly desires. It’s the time of year we are looking forward to the most—when we can don our dark lipsticks and be totally acceptable because the time of year demands it. We put away our reds till mid-December at least, and take out our favourites (and there are many): MAC’s Diva, Nars Velvet Matte lip pencil in Damned and Train Bleu, Kat Von D’s liquid lipstick in Vampira, Revlon’s Wine Not and NYX’ s Transylvania to name a few. Take your pick, apply, take off the excess and unleash your inner Morticia.

I loved this outfit because to me, it proved that an all black ensemble doesn’t by any means have to be boring or bland! I love this ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ Inspired look from 2014. It’s no secret that pink is my least favourite colour and I usually avoid it at all costs but I fell in love with this tulle skirt. I teamed it with a simple cream, ribbed off the shoulder top and nude shoes and the whole outfit felt so whimsical and girly.. above all it was so different from my usual attire but definitely paid off!
Fail - Even though this photo isn’t that old, I can’t look at it without shaking my head. How did I not listen to my own advice - just because something is on trend, doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you! Flared denim was all the rage this season and this is a perfect example of double denim done WRONG - the jeans are all wrong for me, too long even with platforms underneath and it results in the whole outfit looking really messy.

Peppered with professional rejections and personal sorrows, the unglamorous aspects of his life before international fame makes for sobering reading. He narrates the struggles his mother and later, he, faced, the crushing poverty that bound them both and how, through writing, he was able to forge a better life for his family. That is the one thing, Mr King advocates throughout the book-being consistent in creating your work. Mr King deals candidly with his own history of substance abuse, narrating frankly how in the mistaken belief that his art was somehow fuelled by his addictions he nearly destroyed it. His honesty is compelling, lending credence to his unspoken courage and strength as a human being. Drawing on his experience as a creative writing teacher, Mr
King is wonderfully eloquent in setting out the basic tools a writer needs in his arsenal (or ‘Toolbox’) and how best to use them. This is the core of the book, where Mr King uses examples from his own work on how best to write, edit, agent hunting and publishing. His advice is practical, without being weighed down by a lot of preachy self-praise, but most of all, he remains immensely readable. Never once are you bored into thinking you’re back in a dreaded high-school English class. I loved his particular advice to find a ‘Constant Reader’, in his case, his wife Tabitha, explaining how a good Constant Reader would not only cut through the crap in your work but also help guide you back, should you lose your way. Like any good teacher, Mr King isn’t content to let you off the hook once the class is over, the book ends with two updated lists of recommended reading which includes books from writers as diverse as Ian McEwan and J. K. Rowling. Perhaps what remains most relate-able, even likeable, about Mr King’s work is his honesty. When a writer chooses to be as truthful as him, damning the consequences, you cannot help but root for him, time and time again. Thank you for the words, Mr King, and the nightmares. They were worth it, every last one.

A Tale of Four Cities
Granted I borrowed the main title from Mr Dickens and tried to make it my own, I assure you it’ll be well worth it! This summer has been all about Italy for me and let me tell you, no writer can do it justice. Rome is a city with tales as old as time. A history so rich, so well preserved, it feels like it is just time that has passed, and the structures have remained as they are, and ever so beautiful.My family and I ate at every nook and corner restaurant – you can’t always go with recommendations experimenting is all the fun! To our delight, Rome gave us clean flavours and lip smacking Gelato – my personal favourite place was Venchi, a branch you’d find all over the country – and with good reason. Every street has a museum or a Palace once upon a time – still maintained at best. It’s unbelievable how rich even the courtyards were – so princely even now and the sound of the horses hooves hitting the cobblestone paths outside transport you to the times that once were.

One of the main attractions which is always busy with tourists day and night, is the Trevi Fountain, which is the largest baroque fountain in the city. You will often see people turning their back and tossing a coin into the fountain. Legend has it that coin toss will help ensure a return to Roma! No wishes guaranteed folks so don’t make any! Recently, a fashion show was held and the Runway was made on the water for the models to walk for Fendi and the guest of honour was non other than Sophia Loren herself. We paid it a visit both during the day and night as our hotel was not too far off. Places to see: The Colosseum: take the tour! you won’t understand Roman architecture until you see and experience it first hand. Macro: art lovers this is a must see! From Zaha Hadid to William Kentridge to amazing installations including one on the film Psycho by Hitchcock reimagined, this was an experience we still can’t shake tickets off. And of course, with every art gallery comes a bookshop with in advance amazing buys! As stationary addicts, my siblings and I obviously so you skip the bought as many remnants we could lay our hands on. Or line and go with a rather, our pockets.. Old palaces and homes to Princes tour guide throughout the in literally every other Street you turn into. The tour which lasts about 2 and Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel- you cannot a half hours. from the rich history behind it, there are hundreds and thousands of paintings, murals and sculptures from decades ago by the famous Michelangelo and the likes of other artists. Throughout the walk from the Vatican to the Sistine Chapel we were hit by the wonders of carpets and tapestries hanging on the walls. The Sistine Chapel demands silence and observance. Do not disturb the fresco! Yes, that infamous fresco by Michelangelo which took him four years to paint for no pay via the then Pope and which caused him blindness three times. He left for florence to become a sculptor and was called back 24 years later to paint ‘The final judgement’ And that was our final moment in Rome.. Next on the agenda: Florence – just like Michelangelo!
