Aspects of importance – CURO testable

• Determining lack of strength in specific body regions, but more importantly specific muscle groups

• Assessing muscle balance – bilaterally

• Rehabilitation of injured athletes

• Pre-injury measurements to assess when rehabilitation is complete and an athlete can safely return to competition sports

• A tailored training program for each individual athlete

Rehabilitation

Use the CURO Mk II to determine which muscles are affected after an injury and not only:

1) Direct the rehabilitation program, muscle-specific – but also 2) Monitor the rehab. progress – adjust the training program as needed

3 of 7

Pre-habilitation

Use the CURO Mk II to determine which muscles are weak, imbalanced etc and then direct the training program so as to prevent injuries in the future:

1) Know your athletes so you can prevent an unexpected injury

2) Prevent the occurrence of over-training injuries

3) Avoid issues associated with compensation – usually due to a previous injury where an athlete has not recovered in a completely balanced way, but has instead subconsciously overloaded another region of the body (a future injury waiting to happen)

4) Tailor training programs devised by physiotheratispts and trainers – Pre-hab

Dehydration

Use the CURO Mk II to determine which muscles are becoming affected by competition sport or training:

1) To improve the recovery of athletes post exercise

2) Avoid painful cramps on or off the field and associated down time with regards to matches

3) Direct the timely use of i.v. fluid administration – less down time, pain and discomfort – better athletic performance during the match

Concussion

Use the CURO Mk II to determine the effects of a head injury and possible concussion:

1) Quick and easy to use – assess a player without having to risk moving them

2) Obtain baseline recordings for athletes so assessment can be on an individual basis

3) Develop a league approved protocol – i.e. coloured circles on a smart phone App, audio/visual assessment – coordination, cognition – CURO

4) Pre-hospital diagnosis – save wasted time on the bench for athletes that have not been concussed
