POST-MILTON MID-DAY POWER UP AT TAMPA THEATRE

WEDU partnered with Tampa Theatre on a very “cool” event in October: a post-Hurricane Milton day of chilling in the airconditioning, with lots of free popcorn and PBS KIDS shows on the big screen! Guests joined in on kid-friendly activities and used charging stations to power their phones while relaxing in the comfy theater seats. We also celebrated kindness and neighbors coming together by accepting donated goods for hurricane relief in partnership with the City of Tampa.

WORLD OF WORK FROM READY TO LEARN

We partnered with Precious Gems Academy in Seffner to present PBS KIDS’ “What Can You Become?” from the Ready to Learn program. Young learners explored careers through play and hands-on fun, discovering what it means to care for others in the World of Work!

MANY WAYS TO GIVE

Creative Giving to WEDU

Working here has been an amazing experience, and I’ve met so many different personalities over the years. It’s been quite an adventure, and I love helping out in all departments.

BOOKS READERS CLUB

The PBS Books Readers Club is a monthly digital-first series that brings its members into conversations behind the stories of your favorite books & shows.

Watch on Facebook, YouTube, and the free PBS app, with extended interviews available for WEDU PBS Passport members.

There are many wonderful ways to support WEDU PBS during this season of giving. You can help support the programming you love by considering creative non-cash gifts such as: IRA Charitable Rollover

Individuals who have reached age 70½ can donate up to $105,000 to WEDU directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA), without treating the distribution as taxable income. Giving from your IRA is a great way to satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) taxfree and support WEDU’s mission to serve the public good and to aid in the creation of an informed citizenry. To satisfy your RMD on your 401(k), talk to your financial or tax advisor about rolling 401(k) monies into an IRA to make a tax-free charitable contribution to WEDU.

Gifts of stocks, bonds and mutual funds

Donating stock or mutual funds held for longer than one year and with appreciated value directly to WEDU is a savvy giving strategy to avoid capital gains taxes. Consult with your financial advisor to help leverage your gift for the best tax savings. Remember, sometimes it might be more tax advantageous to sell depreciated stock and give a gift of cash to WEDU with the proceeds—a double tax savings!

Donate your vehicle (car, motorcycle, boat, RV, kayak) or property! We make donating your vehicle as simple and convenient as possible with fast pick-up and streamlined paperwork. You benefit by being able to reduce your taxable income when taxes are itemized. Plus, you avoid costs associated with selling your car. Also, any real estate property you own and don’t know what to do with can be donated easily to WEDU.

For more information on creative giving to WEDU PBS, call (813) 739-2959, email giving@wedu.org, or visit wedugiving.org.
