I enjoy many PBS programs. Masterpiece is a favorite, including historical dramas like Miss Scarlet and the Duke, Mr. Selfridge, and Atlantic Crossing I enjoy Antiques Roadshow, and since I’m a fan of doo-wop, I’ve watched the Doo Wop programs more than once. I love Ken Burns’ historical documentaries, especially Baseball, Country Music, The National Parks, The Roosevelts, and one of his early biographies, Frank Lloyd Wright. And I very much enjoy the American Experience programs such as The Rise and Fall of Penn Station

What is something you would like to share with WEDU members? WEDU members are essential to the work we do. Members are also owners of the station, and we want their input. If you would like to reach out to Alan Bomstein or share a message with the WEDU Board of Directors, email board@wedu.org.

The development in this area has been incredible, and watching our sports teams evolve has been a thrill. I was involved in efforts to help bring baseball to the region, so attending the first Rays game in 1998 gave me a real sense of accomplishment. Attending both the Buccaneers’ and Lightning’s first championships in 2003 and 2004 was especially memorable. I was honored to have been named a Lightning Community Hero in 2020.

Climate experts say the most important step you can take to fight climate change is to talk about it. WEDU PBS does exactly that in a special Public Square about climate change and sustainability in West Central Florida. We take a clear-eyed view of the challenges our region faces: warmer temperatures, rising sea levels, and stronger hurricanes. But we also honor the grit and adaptability that have defined generations of Floridians as we share the stories of local changemakers. Prepare to be inspired by scientists who study how heat affects our health, legendary fishing guides advocating for better water quality, and young people engineering innovative energy solutions. And discover what each of us –including yourself – can do to steward our part of the planet.
