WE DO –

Understanding America’s role in the Holocaust is essential to understanding how to make good on the promise of “Never Again.”

• The Holocaust and Authoritarianism Today – September 15

History does not change, but our understanding of history evolves constantly. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. At the main memorial, there is a simple monument that says “Never Again” in multiple languages. The purpose of preserving this site, despite its terrible history, is so we can all recognize the atrocity and agree that it should never be allowed to happen again.

Burns, Lynn Novick, and Sarah Botstein, is no exception. This series explores America’s response to one of the greatest humanitarian crises in history and will premiere on WEDU PBS on September 18, 19, and 20 from 8-10 p.m.

As always, I invite comments and feedback. Please contact me at: Whopaulgrove@wedu.org.tellsthehistoryof country? WEDU, your PBS station! and upward, Paul Grove WEDU PBS President and CEO Sustaining from Paul Grove

Dear Friends of WEDU PBS, I am a longtime fan of Ken Burns. The legendary documentarian has examined nearly every era of American history. Like most of us, the history presented within his films has helped me form a perspective on the past and make sense of the present.

The past three years have brought monumental change and upheaval for youth, from the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to social unrest and cultural shifts. These factors have led to an escalating mental health crisis with adolescents turning to substance use to cope. Half of all new drug users are now under the age of 18. On this At Risk special, we take a deep dive into the factors affecting teen drug and alcohol use and explore ideas and community resources to break the cycles of abuse and addiction. 8:30PM support by The Bernard F. and Mary Ann
