A Message from Paul Grove Dear Friends of WEDU PBS,

Reflecting on my journey in television production, I recall my early days at ESPN Outdoors, where we covered tournament fishing worldwide. What struck me then and continues to resonate is a fisherman’s profound commitment to preserving ocean health and safeguarding marine ecosystems.

Florida is blessed with over 11,000 miles of

rivers and 8,000 lakes, and its abundant natural waterways captivate residents and visitors alike. These rivers, springs, lakes, and beaches enrich our lives and uphold a thriving seafood industry that serves as a cornerstone of our economy.

Get ready for a summer of discovery with WEDU PBS. The new series, Hope in the Water, is a journey into the world of breakthrough seafood technologies. It’s a chance to explore and understand the pressing concerns of food insecurity and environmental preservation. Join us on Wednesdays, June 19 through July 3, at 9 p.m. on WEDU PBS.

This new character-driven nature docuseries is set against the backdrop of our threatened seas and freshwater ecosystem. Each Hope in the Water episode dives deep into the world of creative solutions. This three-part series features environmental enthusiasts Shailene Woodley, Chef José Andrés, Martha Stewart, Baratunde Thurston, and others who explore innovations underway to feed the Earth’s growing population.

Co-produced by Emmy Award winner David E. Kelley and Emmy Award and James Beard Award winner Andrew Zimmern, Hope in the Water promises to captivate and enlighten audiences with compelling storytelling and thought-provoking insights.

Having spent a lifetime surrounded by water in Pensacola, Jacksonville, and Tampa, I understand firsthand the vital importance of our waterways to the future of our planet. Much like the fishermen I encountered in my early days, I hold a reverence and appreciation for these life-giving sources.

As discerning WEDU viewers and proud Floridians, I hope you embrace this opportunity to learn about innovative solutions and technologies that nourish us and help safeguard our waterways.

Your feedback and input are invaluable as we strive to deliver meaningful programming to you. As always, I welcome your comments and feedback. Please email me at paulgrove@wedu.org.

Vehicle and Real Estate Donations

MANY WAYS TO GIVE VEHICLES

If it’s time to reclaim your garage space or driveway, consider donating your vehicle as a unique way to support WEDU PBS and public media in West Central Florida.

Also, your donation doesn’t have to be a car! RVs, motorcycles, scooters, boats, and even kayaks can support WEDU through our vehicle donation program.

It’s an easy way to donate and eliminate the hassles of selling your car, while saving you time and money. Not only are there tax benefits when you itemize, but you can also avoid costs associated with selling your car such as advertising, registration, insurance, and repairs to keep your car in running condition while you wait for a buyer.

Donating your vehicle is easy. Simply share your vehicle details over the phone or online and the pick-up is arranged for you, even if the vehicle is not drivable. You fill out simple paperwork and the rest gets taken care of—it’s that simple.

For more information visit wedu.org/vehicle, or call 1-888-WEDU-AUTO (1-888-933-8288).

REAL ESTATE

If you have a piece of property that you don’t know what to do with or has become too much of a headache, turn it into support for WEDU PBS.

WEDU now has a real estate donation program that accepts any property type in any location. Forego the real estate agent and selling process and donate your property to WEDU either online or with a simple phone call.

For more information visit wedu.org/property, or call 1-844-277-HOME (1-844-277-4663).
