MANY WAYS TO GIVE
Donate a Vehicle
If it’s time to simplify your life and you have thought about getting rid of that old vehicle or boat taking up space in your driveway, consider this a unique opportunity to support WEDU PBS. You can donate your car, motorcycle, boat, RV or even a kayak to WEDU, which helps support public media all across West Central Florida!
It’s an easy way to donate to WEDU and eliminate the hassle of selling your vehicle, while saving you time and money. Not only are there tax benefits when you itemize, but you can also avoid costs associated with selling your car or boat such as advertising, registration, insurance, and repairs to keep your vehicle in running condition while you wait for a buyer.
Donating your vehicle or boat is easy. WEDU will arrange for pick-up, even if the vehicle is not drivable or if your boat is on a trailer. You fill out simple paper-work and we take care of the rest—from title, tags, and registration. It’s that simple!

JEWISH PROGRAMMING IN APRIL
JEWS OF THE WILD WEST
Western Jewish pioneers, those of the silver screen and real life, are a largely forgotten chapter in U.S. history. And yet, they played a definitive role shaping the expansion of the United States. The wagon trains that moved westward with Jewish families traveled for the same reason as many settlers: opportunity. Continuous cycles of antiJewish oppression, deadly violence and forced poverty in Europe forced over two million Jewish refugees to seek out a better life in America. The antisemitism and tenements found in New York City, however, did not offer the respite many Jews were seeking. By 1912, it is estimated that more than 100,000 Jews had migrated to the Wild West to put down roots. Today, they epitomize the important legacy of immigration in America. Through on-camera interviews, compelling footage, and historical photographs, this film tells a positive immigration story and highlights the dynamic contributions Jewish Americans made to shaping the Western United States. This program airs at 8 p.m. Monday, April 3 on WEDQ and repeats at 11 p.m. Monday, April 10 on WEDU.
STREIT'S: MATZO AND THE AMERICAN DREAM
Matzo is an unleavened flatbread that is part of Jewish cuisine and forms an integral element of the Passover festival. An iconic New York institution and a fifth-generation family business, the Streit's factory and the Streit family have long held firmly to tradition, churning flour and water into matzos through ovens as old as the factory itself. This program airs at 11 p.m. Monday, April 3 on WEDU and repeats at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9 on WEDQ.
THEY SURVIVED TOGETHER
The Neiger family was living a peaceful life in the Jewish community in Krakow when the arrival of World War II changed their lives forever. When Nazi soldiers forced the family from their home into the harsh life of the Ghetto, they made a vow to escape as a family. But when circumstances forced the family to separate from older brother Ben, their will to survive was put to the test. This program airs at 10 p.m. Monday, April 17 on WEDU
THE U.S. AND THE HOLOCAUST: INSIGHT AND UNDERSTANDING
This program offers a deeper understanding of the threepart PBS documentary that explores America's response to one of the greatest atrocities of the 20th century. This program airs at 11 p.m. Monday, April 17 on WEDU
HOW SABA KEPT SINGING
Musician David “Saba” Wisnia believed that he survived the horrors of Auschwitz by entertaining the Nazi guards with his beautiful singing voice. Join David and his grandson Avi as the pair embark on a journey exploring the mystery of Saba’s past. This program airs at 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 18 on WEDU
