Adam Saracco, the ICE agent who was charged with misdemeanor battery for pushing lawyer and activist Robert Held to the ground in December 2025 at a gas station in Brookfield, has pleaded guilty. Saracco was sentenced to one year of court supervision on one count of misdemeanor battery on Wednesday, Aug. 12, nearly eight months since the incident late last year where Held said Saracco pushed him to the ground after he followed him to the Shell gas station at the intersection of 31st Street and Maple Avenue from the federal immigrant detention center in Broadview. “I’m glad that there is some accountability and some justice,” Held told the Landmark on Thursday, Aug. 13. “I think that we have a long way to go to rein in See SARACCO on page 16

Brookfield’s village board agreed to move on from discussing the details of a potential alley replacement program in relation to the referendum questions on the ballot in November, prioritizing public education around the main benefit if voters pass the referendum: a permanent, tax-neutral mechanism through which to implement a 25-year road improvement program.
