Riverside Parks and Recreation will host a Drive-In Movie Night with a screening of “Field of Dreams,” starring Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta and Burt Lancaster on Friday, Aug. 21 at dusk (lot opens at 8 p.m.) in the parking lot of St. Mary Parish, 126 Herrick Road.

The cost is $20 per vehicle and includes a medium size bag of Carey Corn popcorn and one treat from Aunt Diana’s.

Getting crafty

North Riverside Public Library invites you to tap into your creative side at “Crafternoon: Tissue Paper Flowers” on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 1:30 p.m.

Make beautiful tissue paper „ owers with the group on Zoom. If you register at least three days in advance, you can pick up craft supplies curbside.

The program is meant to be intergenerational and not limited by geography. Invite your friends, family, grandparents and grandchildren.

Riverside American Legion Post 488 invites the public to join them for “Lest WeForget,” a free webinar to be broadcast on Zoom and Facebook Live, about historical veterans’ monuments nationwide and in the Chicago area.

Chuck Michalek, longtime volunteer and board member at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago, will oƒer his knowledge on the details of these monuments on Friday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m.

Michalek is also a member of the Friends of BNC, which seeks to preserve the cemetery’s heritage and buildings, including its numerous military monuments.

Riverside Township tax appeal webinar

Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will host a property tax assessment appeal webinar for taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2020 property tax assessments on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Riverside Township is open for appeals at the Board of Review through Aug. 28, and the hour-long sessions will educate taxpayers on the appeal process and how to ‚ le a successful assessment appeal.

During the online events, taxpayers will have the opportunity to address their speci‚c questions and

concerns via a chat room where analysts will be available to assist.
