Village mulls shutting bars at 11 p.m. after Madison St. incident Crowd of 50 reportedly refused police orders to disperse By MARIA MAXHAM Editor
Forest Park’s village council will hold a special meeting on May 12, at 7 p.m. to discuss further amending the hours for liquor sales within the village, following a May 9 incident where police say a group of around 50 people refused to disperse for more than half an hour, blocking traffic and verbally and physically harassing officers. by another resident on May 2. The attack left her with a bruised and swollen left eye and left cheek, according to observations in the associated police report and photos supplied by her son. Press conference organizer Eric Russell, who is Claudette’s son, is the executive director of Tree of Life Justice League of Illinois. The organization and Russell are no strangers to the media or to Forest Park. In 2017 Russell participated in a press conference on behalf of the family of Marco Gomez, who was shot and killed by a Forest Park police officer. Gomez drove a stolen car directly at the officer, who feared for his life and shot
