island of Santorini upon their first visit and knew they wanted to get married overlooking the sea. “With the amazing views, sunsets, and romance all around, we knew that Santorini was where we could see ourselves getting married,” shares Bianca.

ianca Stefanescu and Nicolas Pena met in high school and both say they had an instant connection. After losing contact for eight years, it wasn’t until 2014 when Nicolas noticed a mutual friend notification on Facebook and added Bianca, that the two started talking again. “I reached out to Nico to spark a conversation, and two days later we went on our first date,” shares Bianca. Within a few months, the pair had moved in together. Nicolas proposed to Bianca two and a half years later. The couple was spending the day in St. Catharines, Ontario, alongside Nicolas’ brother and his girlfriend. They went on a hike and when they reached a waterfall, Nicolas asked Bianca if she wanted to take a photo in front of it. As they were posing for the photo, Nicolas began talking about the love he felt for Bianca and before she knew it, he was down on one knee proposing! “I remember shaking, being so happy and excited,” recalls Bianca. Upon arriving home later that day, Bianca discovered that Nicolas had planned a surprise engagement party with help from her mom and sister. As an event planner, Bianca is no stranger to planning weddings. Thus, it’s no surprise that when it came time for her big celebration, she decided to have not one but two weddings! The first wedding took place on September 22, 2018 in Santorini, Greece while the second celebration took place on February 17, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario, the couple’s home. Both events were designed and planned by Bianca and her sister, Patrizia Di Franco, who are the co-owners of BLUSHING AURA EVENT COORDINATION & DESIGN.
Bianca’s bouquet of blush garden roses and greenery was tied with a nude ribbon from SILK & WILLOW. Bouquet from RED BOX DAYS, who provided all floral for their destination wedding.
Bianca and Nicolas decided on a first look prior to the ceremony, and according to Bianca, “The first look was one of my favourite moments of our wedding day. Nico told me the morning of our wedding that he had a dream the night before of my wedding dress, and what he described to me was exactly my dress. As soon as he saw me, he started crying.”

ABOUT THE COUPLE

Peonies, stephanotis, and gardenias were used in
ix years after meeting at a work event, Shobana Thaya and Kevin Williams got engaged while on vacation in Sri Lanka. Kevin proposed in front of a 500-year-old Hindu temple located off of Sri Lanka’s northeastern coast. Shobana and Kevin were first wed in a Tamil Hindu ceremony on November 17, 2018 in Scarborough, Ontario. A week later, on November 24, 2018, the couple tied the knot in Toronto in a Western ceremony at RICARDA’S, followed by a decidedly global-inspired reception. Roxy Zapala of ART OF CELEBRATIONS provided full planning and design assistance, as well as floral design. “Shobana and Kevin’s love for travel as well as their ethnic backgrounds were the reasons why we wanted to bring in different elements from different parts of the world into their wedding,” shares Roxy. The dramatic aisle design featured black vases, each overflowing with orchids, lining the path to an arch of brightly-hued florals surrounded by ornate gold lanterns. Shobana says she will always remember “walking down the aisle, feeling so much love from all of our guests, and locking eyes with my soon-to-be.”

According to planner Emma Ye, the couple chose many circular elements as a nod to the meaning of circles in China. “In Chinese, circular means perfect, forever flawless. That is why we designed the stage to be a round shape; we also had a round floral feature on the ceiling and a circular floor plan for the ceremony.”
SECRET GARDEN Mengyin and Zhenyu were wed at THE OMNI KING EDWARD HOTEL, which had been transformed into a blue-hued “wild secret garden” by ALETHEA EVENTS and CARE BANQUET DESIGN. The garden-inspired setup featured two gates as a backdrop, creating an imaginative, secret castle vibe. Unlike your typical ceremony space, CARE BANQUET DESIGN constructed a round stage and arranged chairs on all sides. “It made me feel even more special being surrounding by all of my family and friends,” shares Mengyin. Mengyin and Zhenyu exchanged vows on this stage, under a canopy of blue draping and suspended wisteria.
A R OYA L A F FA I R Mengyin knew she wanted both the ceremony and reception to be at the same venue, so in just one hour, CARE BANQUET DESIGN, ALETHEA WEDDINGS, and LOVEVER WEDDINGS & EVENTS flipped the ballroom into a regal reception space. A mixture of tall and short centrepieces ran down tablescapes, while a mirrored sweetheart table and hedges of wild delphinium were added to the stage. Tableware was also royal-inspired and included goldrimmed charger plates and blue water goblets.

ABOUT THE COUPLE On their wedding day, Keilih surprised Evan with a gift box filled with his favourite items. Gift box from WHITEBOX & CO.
K
eilih and Evan Skrepnek met two years ago at a bar in Las Vegas. It happened to be Keilih’s first visit to Sin City, and Evan was there on a work trip. “The crazy part is that we both lived in the same area, but it took Vegas to bring us together,” shares Keilih. Keilih and Evan got engaged after one year together. The extravagant proposal went down in beautiful Napa Valley. Evan planned a romantic trip to California wine country, and when they arrived, a private helicopter was there to whisk them off to the vineyards. Once they landed, they enjoyed a picnic on a mountain with Keilih’s favourite champagne, cheese, and chocolatecovered strawberries. “As we were sitting on the picnic blanket, Evan told me to stand up and as soon as he said that, the waterworks started (on my end), and he asked me to marry him,” recalls Keilih. They returned by helicopter and when they landed, Keilih’s mother was there to greet them. The newlyengaged couple then had a celebratory dinner with Keilih’s mom and her future in-laws. Keilih and Evan were married on October 19, 2018 in Vaughan, Ontario. Ellie Martires of LAURA & CO. EVENTS provided full planning and design services. Transportation provided by LUXE DRIVE.
