Thomas wore formalwear from antonacci suits and black velvet Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. The groom accessorized with Tateossian cufflinks, a custom-made Dion tie and pocket square from harry rosen, and a black watch from wilk watchworks that he designed himself as a gift from the bride.

d&d floral designs inc. provided all of the floral and decor for the wedding, including Angela’s luxurious, oversized bouquet of white spray roses, lisianthus, ranunculus, and garden roses, the latter of which is the bride’s favourite flower. “The bouquet was huge, almost triple the size of my bridesmaids’ bouquets!” notes Angela.
H
igh school sweethearts Angela Pretotto and Thomas Marchese first met in 2003. Eleven years later, upon Angela’s graduation from law school, Thomas whisked her away on a romantic Italian vacation. Their first stop was the island of Capri, and it was there, beneath the Faraglioni rocks, that Thomas asked Angela to be his forever. The wedding took place on August 20, 2016 in Vaughan, Ontario. Wassal Seddiqi of petals and pearls provided full event planning services. “I had been introduced to Wassal at other weddings I had attended and found her to be extremely sweet. She genuinely cares about your event and truly is one of the best in the wedding industry,” shares the bride.
Angela wore sheer, embellished Rene Caovilla heels that she purchased in Rome.
Angela’s Berta gown was purchased and customized at powder in Toronto. The bridesmaids wore pale nude Terani Couture gowns and accessorized with custom-made earrings and bracelets from Tara Fava Jewellery.
After falling in love with two different invitation designs from your occasion, Angela and Thomas decided to use both. The first, an acrylic mirrored invitation set inside a black velvet box, was distributed to bridal shower guests, while the second, a thick cardstock invitation with gold foil lettering and trim on a white backing, was mailed to wedding guests.

The cocktail and wedding reception took place at universal eventspace. your occasion designed all stationery for the wedding, including the marble-inspired menus and place cards.
A GLAM, CANDLELIT AFFAIR
d&d floral designs inc. used bold pops of black, crisp whites, and shiny metallic silver accented with floral arrangements reminiscent of an enchanted forest. The focal point of the reception was the candlelit wall that stood behind the head table, radiating a warm glow throughout the room. The wall itself was actually a large black bookcase from dream party decor inc., installed by D&D Floral Designs Inc. Atop the bookcase sat an abundance of natural florals and greenery. Five opulent chandeliers from r5 event design were suspended above the head table. According to the bride, “Almost every table had a different design element,� which predominantly extended to the centrepieces found throughout. While some tables contained simple bouquets of white florals and greenery in low silver vases, others featured cascading florals that ran across the table. Guests dined at a mixture of rectangular, square, serpentine, and round tables from higgins event rentals that were covered in silver linens from susan murray international, ranging from velvet tablecloths to metallic runners, and surrounded by three different types of chairs, all from detailz couture event rentals. Each place setting featured a charger plate from Detailz Couture Event Rentals, napkins from Susan Murray International, and stemware from Universal EventSpace. Finally, inside the pouch of each napkin was a customized marbleprint menu from Your Occasion that matched a pair of gourmet marble chocolates from succulent chocolates and sweets that served as wedding favors. These white marble accents could be found throughout the reception, and also extended to the bar and place cards.

Oversized white faux trees towered over the 16-person serpentine tables. Clear vases containing white tealights hung from the tree branches, adding to the romantic atmosphere.
“We were aiming for a dark, whimsical, and dreamy aesthetic, and so we requested candles and white and green florals everywhere. We chose black for the floors and drapery in order to let the flowers and candles truly pop.”–angela

Kate’s customized ines di santo ball gown was purchased at the designer’s Toronto flagship and was worn with three different pairs of shoes throughout the day’s events. The first, nude Manolo Blahnik heels purchased at neiman marcus, the second, white bridal Ugg boots embellished with Swarovski crystals and purchased from Neiman Marcus, and the third, blinged-out Converse wedge sneakers purchased from etsy.

ate Chazan and Ian Rosen first met in 2008 while on a Birthright trip to Israel. During an evening spent visiting a kibbutz, Ian finally got up the courage to talk to Kate. “Maybe it was the kosher wine or the fact that the entire bus had a stomach bug except for the two of us, but we absolutely hit it off and spent the entire night getting to know one another,” recalls Ian. Despite the trip coming to an end shortly thereafter, the two continued talking nonstop for the rest of the summer. In the fall, Kate returned to university in Quebec and Ian to university in Ontario, but by that point, the two were smitten, making a seven-hour drive on the 401 feel like nothing! Seven years later, Ian was ready to propose to the love of his life. Unwilling to compromise between capturing a photo of the engagement and the romance of a surprise proposal, Ian concocted the perfect plan. While on their way to a family dinner in Toronto, he told Kate that his parents were running late and asked if she wanted to go for a quick stroll. As the two were walking by the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal (part of the royal ontario museum) on Bloor Street, Ian sat Kate down on a bench and dropped onto one knee. He asked her to marry him and slipped the ring onto her finger, all the while a photographer in disguise was on hand to capture the entire moment. “The best part, though, was the fact that fourteen months later to the day, we stood in front of the crystal taking those same photos but in a wedding dress and tuxedo,” shares Ian. The wedding took place on November 26, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario. Melissa Baum of melissa baum events provided full event planning services.

The dim glow of candlelight coupled with the luxe white draping provided by micki’s, a division of event rental group, created a romantic ambiance that was perfect for the bride’s dramatic entrance to Adele’s “One and Only.”
“I cannot express how many people mentioned that they walked into the ceremony room and were taken aback by how beautiful it was. Bronfman Hall is a blank canvas compared to the other rooms at the ROM and the chuppah brought that entire room together.”–kate
CEREMONY NOTES
The couple were married in Peter F. Bronfman Hall at the royal ontario museum (rom). To perfectly complement the gilding of the ROM, metallic gold accents were incorporated into both the ceremony and reception decor. Kate and Ian said “I do” beneath a 10-ft tall x 10-ft wide statement chuppah covered in gold and white magnolia leaves. stemz provided all of the floral and decor for the wedding. “The chuppah was simple in that it only used one floral element but was done at such a mass that it created a striking presence,” shares event planner Melissa Baum. Magnolia trees, grand gold candleholders, and amber Ghost chairs from contemporary furniture rentals inc. lined the aisle surrounding the chuppah, while a white aisle runner and white stage cover from reznick carpets tied in with the monochromatic venue.

The bridesmaids wore black floor-length gowns of their own choosing. The groomsmen wore customized Munroe Tailoring formalwear from harry rosen and white and navy houndstooth Dion suspenders from Harry Rosen. Each tuxedo was personalized with names, initials, and custom lining.
The cocktail hour and wedding reception also took place at the rom. Surrounded by the museum’s impressive dinosaur collection, guests mingled and enjoyed food and cocktails in the Hyacinth Gloria Chen Crystal Court. The space was covered in metallic decor elements, including gold acrylic cruiser tables and tufted gold velvet sofas, coffee tables, and stools from contemporary furniture rentals inc.
Before entering the reception hall, the bride and groom’s 300 guests were encouraged to indulge in a raw seafood bar, a dim sum station, and a variety of hors d’oeuvres including mini Reuben sandwiches, mac and cheese fritters, and mini Big Mac hamburgers. Despite the delicious food prepared by l-eat and the room’s candlelit glow, all eyes were on the gold-framed round bar with a tall, luxe arrangement of greenery and magnolia blooms in the centre.
