I
just returned from an incredible week in Venice, Italy where I was speaking at Engage!, a world-renowned conference for the luxury wedding industry. I had a “pinch-me” moment as I checked into my magnificent waterfront suite at the belmond hotel cipriani, the host hotel and long-standing favourite of Hollywood royalty—George and Amal are often spotted returning to “The Cip” (pronounced Chip) since having partied there with their A-list guests on the eve of their own wedding a few years ago! Founded by Giuseppe Cipriani (the inventor of the Bellini cocktail) in 1958, the legendary hotel is situated on a semi-private island and accessed exclusively by boat. While I was there, I continually envisioned a younger Sofia Loren peeking out from the terraces along the Grand Canal! Daydreaming aside, my favorite moment of the trip was dining in the iconic rubelli showroom; our Engage! group was the first ever to enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience. Incidentally, I became fast friends with Sandrina Rubelli, our hostess and coowner of the 150-year-old iconic textile atelier. Beautiful, confident, and successful, Sandrina embodies the very theme of this issue, “The It Girl.” As I was researching for this issue, I learned that the phrase originated in British upper-class society around the turn of the 20th century. Over a hundred years later, and we’re still obsessed! Aside from Venice, it has been a busy few months of travel. In September, the WedLuxe team traveled with our friends from purple tree photography to the venetian las vegas. We were joined by It Girl of the moment, Allie Rizzo, for a few days of fashion-filled fun. We photographed Allie in the latest gowns by everyone from Monique Lhuillier to Marchesa, whom she wore for her own star-studded wedding (with friends Kanye & Kim Kardashian West in attendance!) to restaurateur Scott Sartiano a few years ago. Between managing

her busy modelling career, her popular Instagram account, @allierizzo, and her pet rescue charity, Mother of Dogs, Allie embodies everything “It” that this issue celebrates. Beginning on page 154, our WedLuxe Glitterati Style Files are filled with beautiful inspiration from the likes of Kate Moss, Grace Kelly, Garance Doré, and Michelle Obama, to name just a few of the iconic women who inspired our members and contributors. On page 224, I’m especially fond of our “The Duchess” editorial that celebrates the Victorian throwback trend we’re seeing (and loving!) on bridal runways right now. But perhaps my favourite It Girl of all is the one reading this letter: You, our reader. I continue to feel beyond fortunate that I get to put together this magazine and lead our company as we grow into new markets with new products (more on this soon, I promise.) Along with earrings from saks fifth avenue, the bride wore a pearl bracelet of her mother’s, which served as Sandra’s “something borrowed” and “something old.” The bridesmaids wore dusty blush, floor-length Sorella Vita gowns from Superior Bridal.
S
andra Porzio and Steven Stamkos first met while attending high school in Markham, Ontario. A few years later, they began dating. In 2016, after eight years together, Steven asked Sandra to marry him. Professional NHL player Steven proposed to Sandra the day after he and his teammates from the Canadian men’s hockey team won the World Cup of Hockey in his hometown of Toronto. “Steven proposed at our home the next day on September 30, 2016. It was very romantic and intimate,” shares Sandra. Keeping the winning streak going, their friends and family gathered at the couple’s home the day after the proposal to celebrate all of the good news before the newly-engaged pair returned to their home in Tampa, where Steven plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning. The wedding took place on June 30, 2017 in Kleinburg, Ontario. Ellie Martires of laura & co. events provided full event planning services. Sandra and Steven’s traditional invitation suite was designed by paper & poste and featured rose gold foil, custom postage, a personalized monogram, black and white shimmer letterpress, and a cream and blush floral motif that extended to many other design details of their wedding.

Sandra and Steven said “I do” at the arlington estate in a short and sweet ceremony officiated by Jeremy Citron of all you need is love. Despite the rainy forecast, the clouds parted just in time for the team from rachel a. clingen wedding & event design to set up a dreamy outdoor space. A combination of roses, hydrangea, and soft greenery was affixed to the top of the existing wooden arbour on the grounds. Two glass vessels filled with fresh florals flanked either side of the altar. Smaller arrangements in short glass vases stood on stark white pedestals and lined the aisle. The ceremony provided the bride with her favourite moment of the day, which was “walking down the aisle and seeing Steven at the altar and all of our family and friends around us.”

A two-tier stage built by sole power productions was covered in white vinyl by dance floor décor, who also designed a custom piece separating the stage from the dance floor. This structure featured white vinyl with a rose gold border and was filled with florals from rachel a. clingen wedding & event design. Sole Power Productions curated a custom musical act for the bride and groom comprising their popular band The Digs and female vocalist Vanessa Legacy. “The band was one of the most complimented aspects of the evening and the stage added dimension to the room and allowed guests to feel as though they were experiencing a concert. Some of the guests even joined onstage for photos and dancing,” shares event planner Ellie Martires. Food and wine were extremely important to Sandra and Steven. From the moment guests arrived, Veuve Clicquot was flowing! the arlington estate provided their catering services, which included a three-course dinner, late-night food stations, and cocktail hour canapés. The couple’s classic three-tier wedding cake was prepared by st. phillips bakery. A macaron tower, mini cannolis, mini donuts, and customized cookies were prepared by patricia’s cake creations. dms video productions toronto provided their cinematography services and created a same day edit wedding video that was shown during the reception and projected onto the walls by Sole Power Productions. exclusive limousine service provided their transportation services. To cap off the evening, guests were invited outside for the cutting of the cake, but as soon as Sandra and Steven cut into the dessert, fireworks from Sole Power Productions exploded above them! “Guests were so surprised,” recalls Sandra, while Ellie Martires described the moment as “magical.” Sandra and Steven travelled to the beautiful Greek Islands for their honeymoon, visiting Mykonos and Santorini. They currently split their time between Toronto and Tampa, where Steven is a professional NHL player for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The engagement ring, along with both the bride and groom’s wedding bands, were purchased from a private jeweller in New York City.
Rustic Romance
I
n true Canadian fashion, Kristy Rosenberg and Casey Cizikas met while tobogganing on a local hill in Mississauga. This was back in 2005, when they were in grade nine, and before they became high school sweethearts. A few weeks after meeting on the slopes, the two began dating and have been together ever since. Eleven years later, on December 23, 2016, Casey proposed. Now an NHL player for the New York Islanders, he had flown home the night before his last season game to celebrate Christmas in Canada. “The day of the proposal he had picked me up from work and insisted that I change so that we could go for a walk with our two dogs, Bentley and Phoebe,” recalls Kristy. “He drove us to Port Credit to get hot chocolate and walk on the boardwalk. The sun was just beginning to set and all we could see were Christmas lights and snow filling the streets.” As they passed the Port Credit Lighthouse, Casey asked Kristy if she wanted to take a photo. Never one to refuse a cute photo-op, Kristy started to get into position but when she turned around, she found Casey down on one knee. “I was in shock as he had given no indication or hints as to when or if he would be proposing,” she recalls. After a joyful acceptance, they returned to Kristy’s parents’ home, only to find a surprise party with all of their family and friends waiting to celebrate with them. The wedding took place on July 8, 2017 in Toronto, Ontario, with karina lemke wedding & event design helping to plan the celebration from day one. Kristy wore a strapless Hayley Paige gown purchased from pearl bridal house. She accessorized with nude lace Jimmy Choo heels purchased in New York City, a cathedral length Hayley Paige veil, and an Alexander McQueen clutch. A pair of diamond earrings and a rose gold diamond ring, both gifts from Casey, finished off the look.
The couple chose an ivory invitation suite from paper source in New York City.
Kristy’s bridesmaids donned strapless, floor-length Bari Jay gowns in a blush hue, purchased from jealous bridesmaids. Casey’s groomsmen wore black tuxedos from andrew’s formal.

CEREMONY NOTES
Kristy and Casey tied the knot in an afternoon ceremony at trinity college chapel. The couple fell in love with the chapel’s high ceilings, natural light, and grey stone walls, which were accented with garden-inspired floral arrangements by rachel a. clingen wedding & event design.

A “farmhouse chic”-themed cocktail and wedding reception took place at palais royale, alongside Lake Ontario. “We wanted our wedding to feel elegant and romantic but also very boho and fun,” shares Kristy. This direction inspired Rachel A. Clingen Wedding & Event Design to design a rustic-meets-romantic reception. Wooden accents and twinkling fairy lights draped from the ceiling emanated a pretty glow throughout the room. Blush draping from eventure custom environments and event draping hung behind the sweetheart table, in addition to the sheer winter white draping that lined the perimeter of the room. When it came to the florals, Kristy and Casey requested a mixture of pastel colours and green foliage, and their floral-canopied head table was the focal point of this concept. Round tables featuring various floral centrepieces were accented by a mixture of crystal and wooden candlesticks, vases, candles, and black lanterns. “We included a variety of candles and hanging lanterns to give the space a very romantic, whimsical feel,” shares Kristy.
