discovered my passion for baking and decorating at a young

age. Over the years, I have been very fortunate to have worked with some amazing bakers and decorators. I enjoy teaching and sharing my love for creating cakes. In 2005, I started Amy Cakes with the encouragement of a friend and neighbor. I often pinch myself, thinking “I am living my dream career!” – 26 years and it is still my love. To me and my team, it’s not “just cake” – it’s memories, milestones and edible art.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT YOUR BAKER N O T O N LY U N D E R S TAN D S B U T R E AL LY S E E S T H E VISION YOU HAVE FOR YOUR WEDDING NO MATTER HOW GRAND OR HUMBLE IT MIGHT BE.

to tell Maggie as soon as he saw her, and that was the first thing he said to her in addition to how beautiful she looked! The ceremony took place at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, which was festive with Christmas décor. After the ceremony, the couple invited guests to join them at the Petroleum Club for an evening of dinner, drinks and dancing. The reception was a big party, which is exactly what the couple wanted. Everyone enjoyed the sorority song and fraternity chant, and Souled Out kept the dance floor busy all night. After the final song, the newlyweds had a grand exit with glow sticks. The entire wedding was truly a dream for Maggie and Colt.

Maggie and Colt met their senior year of college at the University of Oklahoma. They were set up to go to a date party together and have been together ever since! After a few years of dating, Colt proposed in Downtown Oklahoma City before Maggie started back to law school. The excited couple decided on a winter wedding and set the date for December 19, 2015. The planning process was busy but fun. Colt enjoyed a bachelor weekend in Austin, while Maggie and her girls had a fun weekend in Las Vegas. Before they knew it, the big day had arrived! They got married on an unseasonably warm day in December and the weather was perfect. Before the first look, Kobe Bryant walked by Colt at The Skirvin Hilton while he was waiting on his bride. Colt could not wait -A77-

aisle in a classic, low-back gown from J.J. Kelly Bridal Salon. The bridesmaids wore long, navy gowns, each dress reflecting their individual personalities, and the matron-of-honor in sparkling sequins. The couple said, “I do,” surrounded by their cherished family and friends. After the intimate ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner catered by Abbey Road Catering. Guests danced the night away to a live band while overlooking the downtown Oklahoma City skyline from the Civic Center’s Meinders Hall of Mirrors. A grand exit filled with oversized illuminated balloons and glow sticks saw the couple off to spend their dream honeymoon in Florence, Italy and Zermatt, Switzerland. Following their twoweek newlywed adventure, they settled into their life together in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Outfitted in the tackiest of Christmas sweaters, Alyssa and Kyle met at a party during their sophomore year at Oklahoma State University. Alyssa was immediately taken by Kyle’s carefree smile, outgoing personality and the flashy tinsel on his sweater. Alyssa, being a bit more reserved than Kyle, kept her feelings hidden from everyone but her sorority sisters as the “secret crush” became a longstanding joke among friends. Upon graduation, they both moved to the Tulsa area where their paths crossed again. The “secret crush” became not so secret when Kyle asked Alyssa out for their first date. Following a four-year courtship, Kyle surprised Alyssa at her family’s lake house with a stunning round-cut solitaire engagement ring, asking her to spend the rest of her life with him. On March 5, 2016, Alyssa Marie Nelson married Kyle Brian Venamon at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church in Nichols Hills. The bride’s father escorted his only daughter down the -A63-

reception at the Farmers Public Market. Complete with glow sticks, Stillwater’s famous Limey drinks, Pistol Pete and a breathtaking seven-tier cake by Amy Cakes, the evening was full of love, laughter and fun surprises for the guests. The bride and groom also incorporated sentimental Cowboy traditions into their celebration by having a table displaying their sorority and fraternity pins as well as white carnations and pink roses. Overall, the evening was full of sweet personal touches, including calligraphy from Sooner Calligraphy and signage by Sizelove Design, celebrating the happy couple amidst the festive mood created by Leslie Herring Events and M&M Productions. After a truly memorable day, the newlyweds traveled to New Zealand for their dream honeymoon.

Looking back, Jacy and Josh are both surprised they met their soul mate during the first week of college at Oklahoma State University. They had been randomly paired together for a Coke Date, a Greek Life tradition at OSU for freshman students. By the beginning of their junior year, the couple was inseparable. After a few years of dating, Josh surprised Jacy one spring day as he got down on one knee in the middle of a wheat field at his family’s farm to ask Jacy to be his forever. Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Thomas Lippoldt said, “I do,” April 16, 2016, at The Chapel at Crossings Community Church. The bride, escorted by her father, was stunning in her timeless A-line Romona Keveza wedding gown. Her gown featured delicate lace cap sleeves with a unique removable tulle skirt that revealed beautiful point d’esprit lace. The gown was the perfect fit for the couple’s fun and celebratory -A9-
