Por tradición, las bodas en Ucrania siempre han sido una gran celebración, llenas de música, canto, baile y artes visuales. La alegría y el buen humor caracterizan estas ceremonias llenas de rituales y tradiciones muy características de esta cultura. ¿Y hoy? Como profesional del sector de las bodas, no puedo dejar de pensar, además de, en todo este horror que nos asola, en las parejas que tenían o habían planeado su compromiso de boda. ¿Qué les habrá pasado? ¿Cómo se sentirán? ¿Cómo afrontan este problema y cómo sobreviven a la espera, a lo desconocido y al tiempo en suspense y postergado, sin final a la vista de la paz que todos anhelamos?

Atenta a las noticias de la guerra que nos llegan prácticamente en directo, tuve conocimiento de 2 bodas que se realizaron allí y de una propuesta de matrimonio hecha en el suelo arrasado por las bombas destructivas y asesinas.

En algún lugar de Ucrania, en cualquier puesto de control, en medio de una acción para registrar un coche que se hizo detener para registrar a sus ocupantes, sucede lo increíble. Sin ningún glamour, entre trajes de camuflaje, de armas y de destrucción, el escenario se transforma y se llena de magia y romanticismo. En medio de un grupo de soldados, hay uno de ellos que se arrodilla, y cuando se escuchan las primeras melodías de una canción romántica, sucede la propuesta. ¡Ahí es cuando nos damos cuenta del verdadero valor y sentido del amor! Me quedé sin palabras, con el corazón roto. ¡Y aquí podemos decir que la guerra se ha detenido!

En esta revista queremos celebrar el amor y la paz. Todo lo que hemos hecho, todo el contenido que os ofrecemos contribuye a la celebración del día más feliz de vuestras vidas. Pero en este proceso, nunca olvidamos a quienes lo ven aplazado, a todas las parejas que, por la guerra o por cualquier otra razón, no olvidan que el amor existe y quieren hacerlo realidad. El amor, ese gran sentimiento que debe comandar la vida de todos nosotros y estar presente en todo el mundo.

Enviamos esperanza, coraje y nuestra solidaridad a todos estos hombres y mujeres que, por la razón que sea, han encontrado un obstáculo en el camino que les dificulta realizar plenamente la celebración de su amor, esperando que, lo antes posible, vean todos sus deseos hechos realidad. Lo que realmente importa es asegurarse de que su amor exista. Y si lo hay, sucederá.

A todas las demás parejas que próximamente van a celebrar su matrimonio, sin limitaciones, ni privaciones, les deseamos que lo vivan en armonía, en plenitud, valorando cada momento y cada detalle que seguramente marcará el inicio de una nueva vida.

LOVE IN TIMES OF PEACE By tradition, weddings in Ukraine have always been a great celebration, full of music, singing, dancing and visual arts. Joy and good humour fill these ceremonies replete of rituals and traditions very characteristic of this culture.

And today? As a wedding professional, I can’t help but think, in addition to all this horror that plagues us, of the couples who had planned their wedding party. What has happened to them? How do they feel? How are they coping with this problem and how do they survive the wait, the unknown and the indefinite postponement, until the peace we all long for?

Attentive to the news of the war that reaches us practically live, I learnt of two weddings that have taken place there and of an engagement that took place in a place razed to the ground by destructive and murderous bombs.

Somewhere in Ukraine, at a checkpoint, whilst a car is stopped and searched, and its occupants checked something unbelievable happens. Without any glamour, amidst camouflage suits, weapons and destruction, the scene is transformed and filled with magic and romance. In the middle of a group of soldiers, one of them kneels down, and as the first strains of a romantic song are heard, he proposes. That is when we realise the true value and meaning of love! I was speechless, heartbroken, but here we can say that the war stopped for a while!

In this magazine we want to celebrate love and peace. Everything we do, all the content we offer you is an attempt to contribute to the celebration of the happiest day of your lives. But in this process, we must not forget those who see it postponed, all the couples who, because of war or for another similar reason, do not forget that love exists and still want to make it a reality. Love: that great feeling that should command the lives of all of us and be present in the whole world.

We send hope, courage, and our solidarity to all these men and women who, for whatever reason, have encountered an obstacle in their way that makes it difficult for them to fully realise the celebration of their love, hoping that, as soon as possible, they will see all their wishes come true. What really matters is that their love exists and if they are sure it does, it will happen.

To all the other couples who will soon celebrate their marriage, without such limitations or hardships, we wish you to live it in harmony, in fullness, valuing every moment and every detail that will surely mark the start of a new life.

Los corsés con varillas de plástico, más actuales, son más flexibles, aunque mantienen cierto control sobre la figura, pero sin oprimirla o presionarla. También hay corsés, bustiers y tops que simulan tener varillas, pero no las incorporan. Éstos resaltan el busto y definen la cintura con naturalidad, sin constreñir la silueta.

There are full-body corsets that stretch from the bust to the hips, underbust corsets and corset belts that cinch in the waist. Corsets are also classified according to the type of boning used. The garment traditionally had metal boning to ensure they maintained their shape around the abdomen and waist. Nowadays, it’s more common to find corsets with plastic boning, which provides flexibility and shapes the figure without putting too much pressure or strain on the body.

There are also corsets, bustiers and tops that appear to have boning but actually don’t. These garments naturally highlight the bust and waist, without constricting the figure.

La manera de maquillar los ojos es muy particular en cada persona, pero esta temporada se han destacado las láminas metalizas en tonos plata y verde. Las bandas de pigmento dorado también han sido tendencia en el maquillaje de muchos desfiles, con destellos de bronce y morado en las miradas. El maquillador profesional de Dior, Peter Philips, dio un pequeño giro a las miradas con pinceladas de sombra plateada en la esquina interior de cada ojo para conseguir un toque conceptual en el look.

METALLIC ACCENTS The way you apply eye make-up is personal to each woman, but this season metallic foils in shades of silver and green have been in the spotlight. Bands of gold pigment have also been a trend in the make-up of many fashion shows, with bronze and purple glints in the eyes. Dior’s professional make-up artist Peter Philips gave the look a conceptual twist with brush strokes of silver eye shadow at the inner corner of each eye.

El protagonista de ‘Titanic’ pone la vista en España para crear la primera fábrica de diamantes sintéticos en Europa.

El actor norteamericano ha decidido dar un paso más en su carrera profesional y ha aparcado momentáneamente su faceta como actor para convertirse en el principal accionista de una fábrica de diamantes sintéticos. Fuertemente implicado en cuestiones medioambientales como es el cambio climático en nuestro planeta, DiCaprio, se interesó por la ética que ocupa la minería tradicional y el impacto que esta tiene en el medio ambiente. “Estoy orgulloso de invertir en Diamond, que cultiva diamantes de forma sostenible en Estados Unidos sin el coste humano y medioambiental de la minería”, comentó el actor.

Tras haber contemplado escenarios como China o Emiratos Árabes, la pequeña localidad cacereña de Trujillo, de apenas 9.000 habitantes, parece ser el lugar idóneo para instalar dicho complejo industrial. No es la primera vez que alguien perteneciente a la industria cinematográfica pone el ojo en este pequeño pueblo, y es que ya ha sido escenario de películas como ‘Tulipán negro’(1964), ‘Romeo y Julieta’(2016) o de la exitosa serie de HBO, ‘Juego de Tronos’(2019 – 2021).

Titanic star sets his sights on Spain to create the first synthetic diamond factory in Europe.

The American actor has decided to take a new step in his professional career and has temporarily put his acting career on hold to become the main shareholder in a synthetic diamond factory.

Strongly involved in ecological issues such as climate change, DiCaprio became interested in the ethics of traditional mining and the impact it has on the environment. “I’m proud to invest in Diamond, which grows diamonds sustainably in the United States without the human and environmental cost of mining,” he said.

After contemplating locations in such places as China or the United Arab Emirates, the small town of Trujillo in Cáceres, with a population of just 9,000, seems to be the ideal place to set up such an industrial complex. It is not the first time that someone belonging to the film industry has had their eye on this small town, as it has already been the setting for films such as ‘Black Tulip’ (1964), ‘Romeo and Juliet’ (2016) and the successful HBO series, ‘Game of Thrones’ (2019 - 2021).

El objetivo principal es el de la producción de diamantes artificiales con una tecnología que solo posee Diamond Foundry. Y lo mejor de todo, teniendo en cuenta los tiempos actuales, es que estos diamentes se fabricarán de forma sintética y serán 100 % sostenibles.

De este modo, la propuesta ha tenido una muy buena acogida ya que el impacto medioambiental va a ser mínimo y todo se elaborará de la forma más sostenible posible, cuidando y teniendo siempre presente la orografía extremeña. ¿Cómo es posible crear diamantes sintéticos tan similares a los auténticos? Una de las preguntas más repetidas entre todo aquel que no conoce el funcionamiento de esta industria.

La tecnología que está prevista a usarse en la futura fábrica trujillana consiste en utilizar la potencia de los reactores de plasma para semejar las condiciones de la naturaleza necesarias para formar dichos diamantes. El carbono cristalizado que resulta es igual que el que se obtiene de forma natural por medio de la minería tradicional, pero “verdaderamente ético”, señala Diamond Foundry.

The main objective is the production of artificial diamonds with a technology that only Diamond Foundry possesses. And best of all, considering the times we live in, these diamonds will be manufactured synthetically and therefore 100% sustainable. In this way, the proposal has been very well received as the environmental impact will be minimal and everything will be made in the most environmentally friendly way possible, and always respecting Extremadura’s orography.

How is it possible to create synthetic diamonds so similar to real diamonds? This is one of the most frequently asked questions among those who do not know how the industry works.

The technology that is planned to be used in the future factory in Trujillo consists of using the power of plasma reactors to mimic the natural conditions necessary to form these diamonds. The resulting crystallised carbon is the same as that obtained naturally through traditional mining, but “truly ethical”, says Diamond Foundry.

Hemos contado con la presencia de Isabel Côrte-Real y Carlos Furtado, directores del grupo y también con las delegaciones de España, México y Portugal, afianzando, una vez más, nuestra presencia en la feria internacional más importante del sector bridal. Un equipo al completo que hemos cubierto todos y cada uno de los desfiles, estando presentes en el backstage entrevistando a los directores creativos de las marcas y fotografiando a las modelos mientras se daban los últimos retoques de maquillaje y peluquería antes de salir a desfilar. Sin duda, una edición de lo más especial ya que volvía la presencialidad al evento tras el parón obligado provocado por la pandemia. Una presencialidad que ha sido muy agradecida y que ha dejado el listón más alto aun si cabe y a todos los asistentes con ganas de más.

WMI SECURES ITS POSITION AS THE MOST IMPORTANT PUBLISHING GROUP AT BARCELONA BRIDAL FASHION WEEK

Year after year, edition after edition, Wedding Media International – one of the most important bridal fashion editorial groups in the sector – continues to uphold its firm commitment to Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week. This year, alongside representatives from Spain, Mexico and Portugal, directors Isabel Côrte-Real and Carlos Furtado reinforced the group’s presence at the most important international fair of the bridal sector. Thanks to this strong team, we were able to cover each and every one of the fashion shows, hold backstage interviews with creative directors from bridal brands and snap shots of models, as the finishing touches were made to their hair and makeup right before they hit the runway. We also had the chance to chat with designers and representatives from a wide range of brands including Peter Langner, Jesus Peiro, Modeca, Pronovias, Yolancris, Enzoani, Cymbeline, Ramón Sanjurjo, and Grupo Higar, among others.

It was, without a doubt, a truly special edition, and even more so because it was the first in-person event after the pandemic. A coming together which was most welcome, and which has set the bar even higher (if possible), with all attendees eager for more.

Lleváis casi 40 años inmersos en el sector nupcial. (desde 1988) ¿Cómo consideras que ha evolucionado desde que empezasteis hasta ahora?

El sector ha ido evolucionando muchísimo; acorde con los cambios de la sociedad y con el desarrollo de un sector que nuestro país lidera con una posición muy significativa dentro del mercado mundial.

La evolución responde a una constante adaptación a las tendencias de mercado y a la trayectoria de JESUS PEIRO como firma.

Siempre se ha intentado dar sentido de coherencia a la marca a través de un estilo propio, pero sin renunciar a la actualidad.

You’ve been in the bridal industry almost 40 years now (since 1988). How do you think it has evolved since you first started to the present day?

The sector has evolved immensely in line with the changes we’ve seen in society and the development of an industry in which our country holds a leading position within the world market.

This evolution is the result of responding constantly to changes in the market and the path JESUS PEIRO has taken as a firm. We have always tried to maintain a sense of coherence by creating a identifiable brand style, but without compromising on contemporary trends.

¿Cuál es la esencia, aquello que identifica la marca JESUS PEIRO y que nunca falta?

JESUS PEIRO es una firma que basa su colección en un desarrollo de vestido dentro del marco de clásicos-renovados integrando las últimas tendencias. Su elaboración 100% made in SPAIN y su carácter artesanal le otorgan un alto nivel de calidad. Un estilo propio que se distingue por su carácter esencial y depurado. Lazos particulares, nuestro característico Halter, la comodidad de los bolsillos, el juego del “Mix&Match” y un estudio innovador de la propuesta de tejidos son algunos de los soportes que constituyen siempre la base de nuestras colecciones.

What defines the JESUS PEIRO brand and what is the essence present in each of its designs?

JESUS PEIRO bases its collections on designing dresses that capture the brand’s “updated classical style” and which reflect the latest trends. The dresses are manufactured entirely in Spain, with a hand-made touch, resulting in products of great quality. The style is easily identifiable with the brand thanks to its essential, refined nature. Unusual bows, our distinctive halter neck, the added comfort of pockets, our “Mix&Match” line, and an innovative material analysis, are some of the elements you’ll always find in each of our collections.

¿Qué ha supuesto para la firma estar de nuevo presente en BBFW una de las ferias nupciales internacionales más importantes del mundo?

Una responsabilidad, ante todo, de estar presentando la colección en un marco tan excepcional. Supone una visibilidad extraordinaria y un compromiso que nos integra en un mercado cada vez mayor y más global.

What has it meant for the company to be back at BBFW, one of the most important international bridal fairs in the world?

Above all, it has brought with it great responsibility to present our collection in the framework of such an exceptional setting. It also comes with a great deal of visibility and commitment, engaging us in an ever-expanding global market.

¿En qué te has inspirado para diseñar la nueva colección NINFAS 2023?

Nos vimos sumergidos en “un Jardín de Luz” desde el primer momento al iniciar la compra de tejidos. La oferta se centraba en fantasías florales de gran carácter y efectos de brillo muy particulares. La evolución de la colección nos llevó a buscar nuestro personaje y allí nos encontramos con nuestras NINFAS.

What was the inspiration behind the new NINFAS 2023 collection?

When buying fabric for the collection at the very outset, we imagined ourselves in a “Garden of Light”. The focus was on exuberant floral fantasies and extremely unique sparkling details. As the collection evolved and we began to search for a character, that’s when we found our nymphs.

De esta nueva colección, ¿Hay algún diseño que sea tu favorito? ¿Por qué?

La verdad es que la colección NINFAS recoge propuestas muy especiales y distintas entre sí. Adoro un vestido en bordado suizo, una columna de crep con intarsia de hilo de seda en su parte inferior y la silueta “bola” de un maravilloso tejido brocado en fil coupé y organza. Aunque debo reconocer que éstos no son mis únicos favoritos. Creo que en esta colección me costaría mucho decidirme. El hecho de realizar los vestidos en tantos tejidos y con las fantasías tan llenas de novedad, enriquece mucho el formato de colección. Una estrategia, por otro lado, muy alabada por nuestros distribuidores

Do you have a favourite design from this new collection, and why?

The truth is that the NINFAS collection features very special designs that are all unique in their own way. I adore a Swiss embroidered dress, a crepe column with silk thread intarsia at the bottom and a “ball-shaped” silhouette in a wonderful brocade fabric in fil coupé and organza. Although I must admit these are not my only favourites. I think I would have a hard time deciding on just one in this collection. The fact that the dresses are created using so many different fabrics and based on such novel fantasies, truly enriches the format of the collection. A strategy that, on the other hand, our distributors greatly appreciate.

¿Qué significa para ti que tus diseños sean reconocidos en diversos medios de comunicación?

Es sin duda muy gratificante. Presentar una colección es un trabajo de equipo en el que se une el conocimiento y el esfuerzo de muchos profesionales. Cuando ese resultado tiene una buena repercusión en medios, la sensación siempre es conmovedora porque da sentido a todo ese esfuerzo.

What does it mean to you to see your designs make great impressions on the media?

It’s undoubtedly very rewarding. Presenting a collection takes an entire team and it brings together the knowledge and effort of a group of great professionals. It’s always very moving when the results get an enthusiastic reception from the media, as it gives meaning to all the effort we put in.

¿Cómo se plantea el diseño nupcial, en este caso en JESUS PEIRO, tras la vuelta a la relativa normalidad?

Con mucha motivación. El periodo de pandemia que, finalmente, parece haberse superado ha modificado algunos aspectos que influyen en la colección. Revisarlos y potenciar otros para proporcionar novedad y frescura a las prendas es un reto apasionante que afrontamos de cara a la próxima campaña.

Creo que se han generado nuevos planteamientos que, de forma natural, nos obligarán a redefinir algunos vestidos.

Now that we’ve somewhat returned to normal, what is your approach to bridal design, in this case at JESUS PEIRO? I’m extremely motivated. Due to the pandemic – which we seem to have finally overcome – some of the aspects that influenced the collection have changed. These aspects will need to be revised and others strengthened if we are to ensure a novel, fresh approach in our products, which will be an exciting challenge for our upcoming campaign. I believe that new approaches have come to the forefront which will naturally force us to redefine some of our dresses.

Los diseñadores Viktor Horsting y Rolf Snoeren presentaron en Barcelona su nueva colección Mariage. Lo hicieron en una noche de los más especial para el sector, y es que Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week organiza una noche de gala conocida como Barcelona Bridal Fashion Night.

Un evento que reúne a profesionales e invitados del sector de la moda, sociedad, así como del espectáculo. Sin duda, uno de los más esperados y animados de la noche barcelonesa.

La presentación que dejó a todos los asistentes boquiabiertos contó con 37 diseños, incluyendo una retrospectiva de vestidos icónicos de colecciones Viktor&Rolf Mariage, creaciones de Alta Costura y, por supuesto, la colección Primavera/Verano 2023. Cada diseño estaba cuidado hasta con el más mínimo detalle. En ellos pudimos ver adornos florales de organza de seda, así como elegantes minivestidos que muestran la exuberancia a través de brocados refinados. También hubo vestidos en forma de ‘A’ de lo más escultóricos pero limpios a la vez. Todos los diseños presentados aportaron una sensación de riqueza moderna mostrando influencias de la colección Haute Fantaisie Primavera/Verano 21 de Alta Costura.

Designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren unveiled their new Mariage collection in Barcelona on what was a very special evening for the sector – the so-called Barcelona Bridal Fashion Night, a gala show organised as part of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week.

An event that brings together professionals and guests from the fashion industry, areas of society and the entertainment sector, it was, without a doubt, one of the most eagerly awaited and special events of the week in Barcelona.

The breath-taking presentation featured 37 designs, including a retrospective showcase of iconic dresses from Viktor&Rolf Mariage collections, Haute Couture gowns and the debut of the Spring/ Summer 2023 collection. Each design had been created with the greatest attention to detail, from silk organza floral embellishments to the most elegant mini dresses in refined brocade fabrics bursting with vitality. The form-fitting A-line dress with its straight lines also made an appearance. Every design on the catwalk exuded a sense of modern abundance, with a clear nod to the Haute Fantaisie Spring/Summer ‘21 Haute Couture collection.

Otro de los aspectos a destacar es la gran variedad de telas lujosas. Una colección enriquecida con brocados y telas Jacquard.

Además, los corpiños ajustados, que ahora no pueden estar más de moda, crean siluetas esculturales que embellecen aún más el cuerpo de cada mujer que se enfunda en uno de ellos evocando una sensación de grandeza real.

Viktor&Rolf Mariage es una extensión del enfoque moderno y glamuroso de los diseñadores hacia la moda.

La moda nupcial es un hilo conductor que recorre las colecciones de ambos diseñadores y, como ellos mismos comentan: “Siempre nos ha fascinado el vestido de novia porque es un pequeño universo en sí mismo. Es un icono de los momentos más maravillosos de la vida”. Además, ambos comentan: “Barcelona es el París de la moda nupcial, y ha sido un placer para nosotros presentar aquí nuestro primer desfile Mariage”.

Fue, sin duda, una presentación a la altura del evento que dejó a todos los asistentes con ganas de más.

Another highlight was the huge variety of luxury materials on the runway, in a collection enriched with brocade and Jacquard fabrics.

Not forgetting the fitted bodice – which couldn’t be more on trend – creating sculpted silhouettes and accentuated figures, adding a true sense of regal grandeur to the evening.

Viktor&Rolf Mariage is an extension of the designers’ modern and glamorous approach to fashion.

Bridal fashion is a common thread that runs through the collections of both artists and, as the designers themselves say, “we have always been fascinated by the wedding dress because it is a small universe in itself. It is an icon of the most wonderful moments in life.” They add, “Barcelona is the Paris of bridal fashion, and it has been a pleasure for us to present our first Mariage runway here.”

It goes without saying that the presentation measured up to the occasion, leaving guests eager for more.

¿En qué basas tu trabajo?

Me gustaría empezar con una teoría del joyero ruso Carl Fabergé; según él, cualquier forma de belleza materializada tiene un halo de vida. Es en esa misma línea en la que se basa mi trabajo: en tratar de dotar de alma y esencia aquellos proyectos que me llegan, como pueden ser una boda, un evento corporativo o una acción de identidad de marca. Idear un concepto e ir desarrollándolo hasta lograr una experiencia única, con la vocación de perdurar en la memoria del espectador.

What do you base your work on?

I would like to start with a theory of the Russian jeweller Carl Fabergé; according to him, any form of materialised beauty has a halo of life. This is the same line on which my work is based: in trying to give soul and essence to those projects that come to me, such as a wedding, a corporate event or a new brand identity. I come up with a concept and develop it until I achieve a unique experience, with the aim of remaining in the viewer’s memory.

¿Qué estilo crees que te define mejor?

Más que un estilo u otro que me defina, para mí la importancia radica en el método. Adaptándose siempre a la naturaleza del evento, se pueden hacer trabajos más clásicos, más modernos o incluso más extravagantes, pero nunca hay que perder de vista el proceso y el cuidado del detalle. Me considero una persona exigente y perfeccionista y esto se plasma en mis trabajos.

No hay que olvidar que se trata de crear espacios y momentos efímeros, de duración determinada, pero que quedaran captados en el recuerdo gráfico y, con el paso de los años, este recuerdo debe poder envejecer con estilo y carácter propio. Por poner un ejemplo, se puede lograr un banquete de bodas espléndido, pero si los manteles no están bien planchados o ahuecados, ese recuerdo gráfico será tu peor juez. Por eso, para mí, cuidar el más mínimo detalle y buscar la excelencia son de las principales señas de identidad de mi estilo.

Explícanos brevemente cómo encaras un nuevo proyecto.

La primera fase es de las más importantes del proceso, ya que consiste en entender lo que el cliente necesita.

Después viene la parte de investigación, estudio, búsqueda y desarrollo, hasta llegar al concepto en que basaré el evento. En este caso, no se trata de tematizar el evento, sino de alcanzar una fluidez de por sí... y ahí reside uno de los principales retos de mi trabajo, puesto que hay que encontrar un equilibrio perfecto. Por ejemplo, en una boda no puede ser que el concepto brille por encima de los novios. El concepto ha de complementar y no eclipsar.

Una vez ideado este universo es momento de presentárselo al cliente, lo hacemos con varios soportes, los más realistas posibles, como son los renders 3D (imágenes fotorrealistas de cómo será) para que vivan una total inmersión en lo que será el acontecimiento. Una vez aprobado y consensuado, llegarán el desarrollo y la materialización final; y ahí será donde ocurra la magia… ¿En tu caso, en qué te inspiras a la hora de realizar un evento?

Desde bien pequeño siempre he tenido un espíritu curioso, lo que me ha llevado a ir siempre un paso más allá, investigando cuando algo me ha atraído. Con el paso de los años he ido creando una biblioteca mental de diferentes inputs e ideas que desarrollo cuando llega el evento adecuado.

Aún y así, en tu trabajo siempre acaba emergiendo, inconscientemente, alguna pincelada de aquello que tú interiormente consideras el paraíso estético ideal; en mi caso, el Modernismo Catalán. Fue un movimiento tan sublime que es una fuente de inspiración continua; incluso pequeños detalles como los picaportes del ebanista Gaspar Homar pueden ser una fuente de inspiración. En mi opinión, el Modernismo para Barcelona es lo mismo que el Renacimiento para Florencia y, como sus herederos, creo que tenemos un gran universo artístico y estético que admirar y seguir poniendo en valor.

Cuéntanos algo que te diferencie.

Como he dicho anteriormente, me considero exigente y perfeccionista, pero la parte emocional creo que también es muy relevante en mi trabajo. Con la experiencia adquirida me gusta pensar que he aprendido a conectar con mis clientes, a saber encauzar y orientar sus inquietudes, sus deseos... Y saber contar su historia, una historia que cautive y seduzca al público.

Cada proyecto con los que trabajo es único y me entrego para dotarle de una identidad única. Me apasiona mi profesión y realmente espero que se transmita en mis proyectos.

What style do you think best defines you?

More than being defined by one style or another, for me the importance thing is the method. Adapting to the nature of the event, one can do work that is more classic, more modern or even more extravagant, but one must never lose sight of the process itself and the need to pay attention to detail. I consider myself someone who is demanding and perfectionist, and this is reflected in my work.

We must not forget that it is a question of creating ephemeral spaces and moments, of a specific duration, but which will be captured in the graphic memory and, with the passing of time, this memory must be able to age with its own style and character. To give you an example, you can have a splendid wedding reception, but if the tablecloths are not well ironed or, that graphic souvenir will be your worst judge. That’s why, for me, taking care of the smallest detail and striving for excellence are the main hallmarks of my style.

Tell us briefly how you approach a new project.

The first phase is one of the most important in the process, as it consists of understanding what the client needs.

Then comes research, study, exploration and development, until I arrive at the concept on which I will base the event. In this case, it’s not about theming the event, but about achieving a fluidity in itself... and therein lies one of the main challenges of my work, as a perfect balance has to be found. For example, at a wedding, the concept cannot shine brighter than the bride and groom. The concept must complement rather than eclipse.

Once this concept has been devised, it must be presented it to the client, we do this with various supports, as realisticly as possible, such as 3D renders (photorealistic images of what it will be like) so that they are totally immersed in the idea. Once approved and agreed, the development and the final realisation will come; and that is where the magic happens.

In your case, what inspires you when it comes to creating an event?

Since I was a child, I have always had a curious spirit, which has led me to always go one step further, looking into whatever has attracted me. Over the years I have built up a mental library of different inputs and ideas that I develop when the right event comes along.

Even so, in your work there always ends up emerging, unconsciously, some touch of that which you inwardly consider to be the aesthetic ideal; in my case, Catalan Art Nouveau. It was such a sublime movement that it is a continuous source of inspiration; even small details such as the doorknobs of the cabinetmaker Gaspar Homar can be a source of inspiration. In my opinion, Catalan Art Nouveau for Barcelona is the same as the Renaissance for Florence and, as its heirs, I believe we have a great artistic and aesthetic universe to admire and continue to highlight.

Tell us something that sets you apart.

As I said before, I consider myself demanding and perfectionist, but I think emotion is also very relevant in my work. With the experience I have acquired, I like to think that I have learnt to connect with my clients, to know how to channel and guide their concerns and their desires. And to know how to tell their story, so that it captivates and seduces the public.

Each project I work on is unique and I dedicate myself to giving it a unique identity. I am passionate about my profession, and I really hope it shows through in my projects.

El pasado 20 a 24 de abril, se llevó a cabo una edición más de uno de los eventos más importantes y esperados del mundo bridal, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, organizada por Fira de Barcelona con el apoyo del Departament d’Empresa i Treball de la Generalitat de Catalunya, presentando los desfiles de 34 diseñadores y la oferta de más de 320 firmas internacionales que han luchado arduamente para afianzar la recuperación del sector nupcial, uno de los más afectados después de la pandemia que ha atravesado el mundo, viendo una luz de esperanza al final del largo túnel.

Bajo el lema “Move to new” es como esta nueva edición desea evolucionar con el cambio y vivir los retos futuros de la industria nupcial.

In this edition we have also been able to observe the evolution and inclusion in the new designs of national and international brands, which are increasingly committed to include trousers and trouser suits for women, as well as urban designs that are more discreet and comfortable, but which preserve elegance and formality, in order to meet the tastes of today’s women.

The first night of this magnificent show culminated with a fashion show by Viktor & Rolf, who presented the Mariage collection, choosing the city of Barcelona because, according to them, “Barcelona is the Paris of bridal fashion”, something that surely made the organisers proud, especially coming from a brand that was born in the French capital.

Mariage, a collection that left us in awe of its precious details and haute couture elements, highlighting classic and romantic designs with beautiful floral embellishments, ruffled figures and spectacular draping; designs never seen before. It is an extension of the modern and glamorous approach of these designers, for Viktor & Rolf working on wedding dresses is a challenge that breaks with all the schemes of the fashion world, due to the great significance that this garment has in the life of every woman.

Also present were national and international brands that have presented their most recent creations at fashion shows for all those brides-to-be who have not yet decided on a specific dress for their big day. Walking the catwalk were brands such as Jesus Peiro, Marchesa for Pronovias, Isabel Sanchis, Yolancris, Olga Macià, Mireia Balaguer, Andrea Lalanza, Sophie et Voilà, Agnieszka Swiatly, Nicole Milano, Marylise & Rembo Styling Fashion Group, Marco & María, Cymbeline, Rosa Clará, Julia Kontogruni, Vestal, Demetrios, Grupo Higar Novias, Manila, Atelier Pronovias, Katy Corso, Simone Marulli, Lorena Panea, Poesie Sposa, Nicolás Montenegro, Moncho Heredia, Modeca and Peter Langner.

Otro de los grandes esperados de los desfiles, fue la firma española de moda masculina, Ramón Sanjurjo, que se caracteriza por ser una de las marcas más representativas de la costura tradicional, reflejando pasión y visión de excelencia en cada uno de sus diseños, “Veni Vidi Vici” es la colección que desfiló en esta ocasión en Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2022 y que cautivó a propios y extraños por su estilo vanguardista y puro que prioriza la elegancia y la serenidad en estos tiempos en los que el mundo atraviesa situaciones difíciles.

La diversidad cultural caracteriza a este mundo globalizado en el que los clientes se caractizan por su autenticidad. Isabel Sanchis se inspiró en esta diversidad para presentarnos su más nueva colección en la pasarela, en la que añadió a su paleta de colores, el marrón, el pistacho, el rosa y el naranja que hacen un match perfecto con el optimismo y pasión por la vida de una mujer que esta por comprometerse.

Una de las colecciones más aclamadas fue la de la internacional francesa Cymbeline que desfiló en el segundo día del este espectacular evento. Sus diseños rindieron homenaje al origen de la vida y uno de los mayores tesoros de este planeta, el agua, mandando un mensaje contundente a las generaciones presentes y futuras acerca del cuidado y preservación de este elemento tan valioso. El color turquesa fue el gran estelar de esta colección, solo o acompañado con tonalidades blancas que no dejaron de cautivar al público presente.

Carlo Pignatelli and his Marrakech based “Cerimonia” collection confirmed once again that vibrant tones and timeless styles will be en vogue for the rest of the year.

Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week was the chosen venue for this brand to present its designs for the modern bride and groom.

Another long awaited fashion show, was the Spanish men’s fashion brand, Ramón Sanjurjo, which is characterised by being one of the most representative of traditional couture, reflecting passion and vision of excellence in each of its designs, “Veni Vidi Vici” is the collection that paraded at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2022 and it captivated friends and strangers alike for its pure avant-garde style that prioritises elegance and serenity in these times in which the world is going through such difficulties.

Cultural diversity characterises this globalising world in which clients are characterised by their authenticity. Isabel Sanchis was inspired by this diversity to present her newest collection on the catwalk, in which she added brown, pistachio, pink and orange to her colour palette that make a perfect match with the optimism and passion for life of a woman who is about to commit herself.

One of the most acclaimed collections was that of the French international Cymbeline who paraded on the second day of this spectacular event. Her designs paid tribute to the origin of life and one of the greatest treasures of this planet, water, sending a strong message to present and future generations about the care and preservation of this precious element. Turquoise was the star of this collection. Whether alone or accompanied by white tones it did not fail to captivate the audience.

La primera tendencia observada en este espectáculo son los vestidos con detalles brillantes. Prueba de esto son los hermosos diseños que nos presentaron las firmas Julia Kontogruni, Demetrios y Vestal, vestidos estilo princesa, rectos y cortos, muy elegantes y atractivos, dignos de una princesa.

Además, vestidos en blanco y negro, el perfecto match que no puede faltar, y que marcas como Sophie et Voilà e Isabel Sanchis no han dudado en incluir dentro de su colección, desde accesorios en esta tonalidad, hasta preciosos detalles en el diseño del vestido.

Pero, por supuesto no olvidemos los estilos en dos piezas y pantalón que cada vez vemos más, y todo indica que se quedarán por un largo tiempo dentro del mundo nupcial.

Por último, una tendencia que jamás nos hubiéramos imaginado, los vestidos con estilo egipcio, marcas como Marylise & Rembo Styling Fashion Group han denotado que este estilo será el triunfador y más pedido por las bride to be de este 2023.

En cuanto a estilos de novio, sin duda los colores vibrantes son los que dominarán esta temporada, la tonalidad naranja y azul metálico son el boom que no podrá faltar en las bodas, sin embargo, también existen opciones para los novios menos atrevidos, siendo el color blanco la opción ganadora.

Las invitadas de este año se verán cubiertas de colores, estampados y texturas, o al menos es lo que no han dejado ver las colecciones de Manila, Grupo Higar Novias y Moncho Heredia, con diseños floreados y colores vibrantes, siendo el azul el must, acompañado de pedrería, flecos y drapeado.

The first trend observed in this show were the dresses with shiny details. Proof of this are the beautiful designs presented by Julia Kontogruni, Demetrios and Vestal, princess style dresses, straight and short, very elegant and attractive, and worthy of a princess.

In addition, dresses in black and white, the perfect match that cannot be missed. Brands like Sophie et Voilà and Isabel Sanchis have not hesitated to include these in their collection, with accessories in this shade, to beautiful details in the dress design.

But of course, let’s not forget the two-piece and trouser styles that we are seeing more and more, and everything indicates that they will be around for a long time yet in the bridal world.

Finally, a trend that we would never have imagined, Egyptian style dresses. Brands like Marylise & Rembo Styling Fashion Group have denoted that this style will be the triumphant and most requested by brides-to-be in 2023.

In terms of groom styles, vibrant colours will undoubtedly dominate this season, with orange and metallic blue being de rigueur, however, there are also options for the less daring, with white being the winning option for many grooms.

Una de las colecciones más esperada fue la de la firma Jesus Peiro, creada por la aclamada diseñadora Merche Segarra, quien se inspiró en esas criaturas divinas que dan vida a la naturaleza, llenas de luz que resplandecen en secreto cuando nadie las ve. Hijas de dioses que se esconden bajo las corolas de las flores o en los frescos manantiales, aquellas que han sido representadas históricamente como mujeres increíblemente bellas que aman, cantan y bailan mientras otorgan al mundo el don de la poesía. Este concepto inspiró a Merche para crear la colección “NINFAS”: sus escotes celebran el regreso de un mito del sector nupcial, el escote palabra de honor; sus balconets, sus perkins y sus cuellos halter suben su nivel de protagonismo; sus mangas globo, ranglan y abullonadas aportan a las siluetas una lectura en clave costura; las plumas alborotan, los volantes adornan, los lazos embellecen … abrigando a las delicadas novias que, como ninfas, son mágicas, despreocupadas espereando el momento en que relucirán como estrellas en el cielo nocturno.

Una colección muy completa que abrió los tan esperados desfiles de Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2022 y que además cuenta con alternativas para aquellas novias que busquen algo distinto a lo convencional, desde siluetas perfiladas a cadera baja, columnas trapecio y prendas con toque más urbano como el mono pantalón, el minivestido o la túnica, así como una nueva línea sirena llevada al extremo.

Uno de los momentos más emotivos de la gala tuvo lugar durante el cierre de esta colección de Jesús Peiro cuando tanto Merche Segarra como las modelos participantes en el desfile se rindieron ante el público, mientras portaban un ramo de flores con la bandera de Ucrania, hecho que conmovió a los presentes y nos demuestra una vez más que la moda bridal siempre se caracteriza por ser solidaria con temas sociales y, sobre todo, con la realidad.

One of the most awaited collections was that of the firm Jesus Peiro, created by the acclaimed designer Merche Segarra, who was inspired by those divine creatures that give life to nature, full of light that shine in secret when no one sees them. Daughters of gods who hide under the corollas of flowers or in fresh springs, those who have been historically represented as incredibly beautiful women who love, sing and dance while bestowing the world with the gift of poetry. This concept inspired Merche to create the “NINFAS” collection: its necklines celebrate the return of a myth of the bridal sector, the strapless neckline; its balconets, its perkins and its halter necks raise their level of prominence; its balloon, raglan and puffed sleeves give the silhouettes a couture reading; the feathers flutter, the ruffles adorn, the bows embellish... sheltering the delicate brides who, like nymphs, are magical, carefree, waiting for the moment when they will shine like stars in the night sky.

A very complete collection that opened the long-awaited Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2022 shows and that also has alternatives for those brides looking for something different from the conventional, from low hip silhouettes, trapeze columns and garments with a more urban touch such as the jumpsuit, the mini-dress or the tunic, as well as a new mermaid line taken to the extreme.

One of the most emotional moments of the gala took place during the closing of this collection by Jesús Peiro when both Merche Segarra and the models participating in the fashion show surrendered to the public, while carrying a bouquet of flowers with the Ukrainian flag, a fact that moved those present and shows us once again that bridal fashion is always characterised by its solidarity with social issues and, above all, with reality.

Por otro lado, el Trade Show fue la gran apuesta de un año más, una feria con más de 300 stands de marcas nacionales e internacionales, en los que se podían adquirir vestidos de novia, trajes, vestidos de fiesta y demás accesorios para complementar el gran día. Además, cada una de las marcas contaba con personal capacitado que ayudaba a los buyers a elegir la mejor opción.

El principal concepto de este Trade Show fue conectar con los actores de la moda bridal, a través de un mundo de novedades y diversidad mediante el cual Barcelona se convirtió en el principal foco de negocios en el mundo del bridal del 22 al 24 de abril del presente año.

La majestuosidad de BBFW22 se ha basado en la capacidad de este para concentrar marcas internacionales y nacionales en un solo sitio, lo que lo convirtió en una sede predilecta para todos los amantes de la moda nupcial que pudieron disfrutar de los diseños más exclusivos de marcas de todo el planeta concentrados en un único y especial lugar: Barcelona.

Una vez más la Ciudad Condal se ha posicionado como la capital de la moda nupcial internacional, apostando por la innovación, la sostenibilidad, la diversidad y la solidaridad con grandes retos y oportunidades para el futuro de este sector tan afectado por la pandemia.

On the other hand, the Trade Show was the big gamble of another year, a fair with more than 300 stands of national and international brands, where you could buy wedding dresses, gowns, party dresses and other accessories to complement the big day. In addition, each of the brands had trained staff to help buyers choose the best option.

The main concept of this Trade Show was to connect with the bridal fashion players, through a world of novelties and diversity through which Barcelona became the main focus of business in the bridal world from 22nd to 24th April this year.

The majesty of BBFW22 was based on its ability to concentrate international and national brands in one place, which made it the favourite venue for all bridal fashion lovers who were able to enjoy the most exclusive designs from brands from all over the world concentrated in one special place: Barcelona.

Once again Barcelona has positioned itself as the capital of international bridal fashion, committed to innovation, sustainability, diversity and solidarity with great challenges and opportunities for the future of this sector so affected by the pandemic.

One more edition has come to an end and has left a sweet taste in the mouths of all attendees. At last, we see an opportunity to resume the operations of this beautiful bridal world and continue to give both professionals and, of course, future brides and grooms happiness, love and hope.

bridal fashion week El evento ha llegado a su fin y la presencia de La Asociación de Diseñadores Rumanos en la nueva edición de Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week no ha pasado desapercibida. Tanto marcas en su décimo año de participación como aquellas recien incorpordas al salón, han disfrutado muchísimo de este maravilloso encuentro con buyers de todo el mundo.

Las colecciones presentadas por las 9 firmas rumanas mostraron una elaboración con materiales de alta calidad e innovador diseño, siendo muy apreciadas por los asistentes de Europa, Asia y África.

Tras dos años de ausencia, en esta edición han participado Andree Salon, Ersa Atelier, Otilia Brailoiu, Divine Atelier, Nava Bride, marcas consagradas en esta feria. Otras marcas, como Natalia Vasiliev, Ivaz Couture, Innocenti Sposa o Cristina Bacio, han participado por primera vez.

Como cada año, su participación en ferias internacionales ha estado patrocinada por el Gobierno Rumano a través del Ministerio de Empresa y Turismo junto a la Federación Rumana de Diseño.

SHINE AND MAGIC AT THE BARCELONA BRIDAL FASHION WEEK Even if the show is over, the presence of Romanian designers did not go unnoticed at the 28th edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week.

Brands already at 10th participation or even at the first time, enjoyed a great search among the buyers present at this edition.

The collections presented by the 9 Romanian brands were made of high quality materials and with an innovative design, they being appreciated both by visitors from Europe and from Asia or Africa.

After 2 years of absence, this edition was attended by Andree Salon, Ersa Atelier, Otilia Brailoiu, Divine Atelier, Nava Bride, brands consecrated at this fair, but also by Natalia Vasiliev, Ivaz Couture, Innocenti Sposa or Cristina Bacio, brands at the first participation.

As every year, their participation in international fairs was sponsored by the Romanian Government through the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism, together with the Romanian Design Federation.

I missed the runway days. I missed the nerves, the misplaced, unfinished illustrations when a model would rush off to get her make-up done before going on stage. I wished to feel once more that connection to reality, to forget about safety distances and the loneliness that comes with only doing the essential.

En esta edición de Bridal Fashion Week Barcelona volví a convertirme en el ilustrador que capta momentos en el backstage y el Front Row con tan solo un “punta fina” y muchas páginas en blanco.

This Bridal Fashion Week Barcelona, I once again became that illustrator able to capture moments backstage and from the front row with nothing more than a fine-tipped pen and many blank pages.

Ahora, esas páginas están repletas de anécdotas y colores.

Un día en BBFW tiene muchos inicios, el despertar de una modelo, el encendido de luces de una cámara o elegir un outfit para un influencer. Mi arranque de ilustrador es elegir los colores, colocarlos en mi cinturón y adentrarme en la sala de maquillaje y peluquería. Los ojos deambulan buscando ese momento espontáneo y fácil de transmitir con pocas líneas de tinta china.

Now those pages are overflowing with anecdotes and colour.

In just one day at BFWB you’ll come across many new beginnings: a model wakes up, the camera lights turn on, an outfit is chosen for an influencer. As an illustrator, I start the day by choosing my colours, slotting them into my belt and slipping into the hair and makeup room backstage. My eyes scan the room in search of a spontaneous moment that I can sketch with a few strokes of India ink.

El momento álgido de mi trabajo es cuando encuentro la fila de modelos dispuestas a desvelar las nuevas tendencias sobre la pasarela. Confieso que esta parte es una de mis predilectas. Es un ambiente agradable y tengo tiempo para jugar con las posiciones y dibujar a más de una modelo en una lámina. Esta atmósfera me invita a hablar con modelos como por ejemplo, Neus Bermejo en el desfile de Pronovias que comenta:

What I most enjoy about my job is seeing the models in line, ready to hit the catwalk and unveil the newest trends. I must confess it’s a personal highlight for me. The atmosphere is great, and I have time to play around with positions and sketch several models together on the page. I also get chance to talk with the models. At the Pronovias fashion show, Neus Bermejo told me:

“Desfilar para Pronovias es una experiencia mágica”.

“Modelling for Pronovias is a magical experience.”

La segunda actividad que practiqué más en esta edición de BBFW fue hablar. Encontrar tiempo para reunirme con periodistas con quienes hacía dos años que no coincidía y tiempo para charlar con diseñadores y comentar esta edición. Merche Segarra de Jesus Peiro remarcó:

The second thing I did the most at BBFW was talk. I carved out time to meet with journalists I hadn’t seen for two years and made time to chat with designers and talk about this edition. Merche Segarra de Jesus Peiro commented:

“En esta edición encontramos mucha variedad y muchas novias diferentes”.

“In this edition you’ll find a great deal of variety and many different brides.”

La fórmula de este día se repite pero las imágenes, sensaciones y colores son totalmente diferentes. La magia de mi oficio es la observación, esa misma magia que tenía James Stewart en la Ventana Indiscreta. Echaba de menos compartir estas vivencias escritas y dibujadas. The subsequent days followed the same pattern, but the images, sensations and colours were completely different each time.

Observation is the magic of my trade, the same magic James Stewart had in Rear Window. What I missed was sharing the sketches and scribbles that captured these moments. I want to thank NP Magazine for giving me this space to share my watercolours.

10 REASONS TO VISIT THE RESIDENCE ZANZIBAR, THE ISLAND OF SPICES With its spicy flavours, Zanzibar, a hidden gem in the Indian Ocean, is popularly known for its palm-fringed white sandy beaches, rich history and splendid boutique hotels. Providing a slice of paradise for every type of traveller, the island is the ideal destination for honeymoons, family holidays or the perfect place to relax after a safari in Kenya or Tanzania. The Residence Zanzibar is a good choice for the more aquatic traveller due to the extensive swimming options. The oldest part of the town and capital of Zanzibar, Stone Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the home of the legendary Freddie Mercury. Una de las razones principales para muchos de aquellos que visitan la isla son sus playas, que nada tienen que envidiar a las del Caribe. Las hay para todos los gustos, desde solitarias y rocosas en las que practicar el nudismo, hasta largos arenales de ensueño. Es Truncadors es una larga lengua de arena que se estrecha de sur a norte y en la que, en su cara este, se encuentra la playa de Levante.

Es, sin duda, la más visitada por los turistas, por su blanca y fina arena, así como por sus tranquilas aguas de color turquesa. Resulta más relajado visitarla por la tarde, mucho menos concurrida.

Migjorn es el otro gran arenal de la isla, cinco kilómetros de playa que abarca prácticamente todo el sur de Formentera. No es difícil encontrar rincones solitarios donde poder disfrutar del sol y del baño. A continuación de Migjorn, protegida por una zona rocosa y escarpada, se esconde uno de los rincones más cautivadores de Formentera, Caló des Mort. Su belleza radica en las casetas varadero que alberga y en la montaña que la protege. Tampoco nos podemos olvidar de Cala Saona, un rincón muy familiar, de aguas poco profundas, o la zona litoral de Tramuntana, un tipo de costa rocosa baja que se puede recorrer, siempre con el calzado adecuado, en busca de pequeñas calas de arena.

Otro lujo natural de Formentera son las rutas a caballo. Hay dos que parten del Centro Hípico ubicado entre La Savina y San Francesc, la capital. La corta (una hora) bordea el Estany del Peix; la larga (dos horas) llega a cala Saona.

One of the main reasons that many visitors go to the island is its beaches, which easily compare to those of the Caribbean. There is something for everyone, from solitary and rocky beaches for nudism, to long, dreamy stretches of sand. Es Truncadors is a long tongue of sand that narrows from south to north and on its eastern side is the Playa de Levante. It is undoubtedly the one most visited by tourists because of its fine white sand and calm turquoise waters. It is more relaxing to visit in the afternoon, when it is much less crowded.

Migjorn is the island's other major sandy beach, five kilometres of beach that covers practically the entire south of Formentera. It is not difficult to find secluded spots where you can enjoy the sun and bathe. Next to Migjorn, protected by a rocky and steep area, hides one of the most captivating corners of Formentera, Caló des Mort.

Its beauty lies in the dry dock huts it houses and the mountain that protects it. Nor should we forget Cala Saona, a very familiar spot with shallow waters, or the coastal area of Tramuntana, a type of low rocky coastline that, with the right footwear, can be explored, to find small sandy coves.

Another natural luxury of Formentera is the horse riding routes.

There are two that start from the Equestrian Centre located between La Savina and Sant Francesc, the capital. The short one, that takes an hour, goes around the Estany del Peix and the long one (two hours) goes to Cala Saona.

Y uno de ellos, el oído, tiene un potente imán natural: sus rutas birding, en las que escuchar la celestial sinfonía de las aves migratorias. Este año se ha estrenado una nueva, el ‘Itinerario ornitológico del Camí des Brolls’, una senda de 4,3 kilómetros que recorre el perímetro del Estany Pudent, con 8 paneles y una pantalla de observación para ver y entender uno de los humedales con mayor valor biológico.

Pero el gran poder de seducción de la isla son sus playas y calas, repartidas a lo largo de sus 69 kilómetros de costa. De ellas destaca Ses Illetes, al noroeste, entre las mejores del mundo. Pero hay muchas más para elegir. En la misma zona: la de Llevant, mirando al este; o Cavall d’en Borras, a poniente, mucho más tranquila y salvaje. Al norte, Es Pujols y Sa Roqueta, en el municipio con la mayor oferta hotelera y de ocio. Al sur, Migjorn, la más extensa: 5 kilómetros repartidos en varias playas y calas. Y al noroeste, Ses Platgetes, amparadas por Es Caló, que aun conserva su esencia de antiguo pueblo de pescadores. Y todas ellas, con un denominador común: el ‘azul Formentera’, único en el mundo. Una transparencia en sus aguas que le otorga la Posidonia Oceánica (Patrimonio de la Humanidad desde 1999 y el ser vivo más longevo del planeta, con 100.000 años de antigüedad) que está bajo el mar Mediterráneo

Formentera should be enjoyed with all five senses. And one of them, hearing, has a powerful natural pull: its birding routes, where you can hear the celestial symphony of migratory birds. This year a new one has been launched, the 'Camí des Brolls Ornithological Itinerary', a 4.3 kilometre path that runs around the perimeter of the Pudent Lake, with 8 panels and an observation screen to see and understand one of the wetlands of the greatest biological value.

But the island's great seductive power is its beaches and coves, scattered along its 69 kilometres of coastline. Ses Illetes, in the northwest, stands out as one of the best in the world. But there are many others to choose from. In the same area: Llevant, facing east; or Cavall d'en Borras, to the west, much quieter and wilder.

To the north, Es Pujols and Sa Roqueta, in the municipality with the largest offering of hotels and leisure venues. To the south, Migjorn, a 5 kilometre stretch of several beaches and coves. And to the northwest, Ses Platgetes, sheltered by Es Caló, which still conserves its essence of an old fishing village. Y como guinda, el mágico espectáculo natural de los amaneceres y atardeceres. Para ver salir el sol, nada mejor que el faro de la Mola, al este, en la parte más alta de la isla. Allí también está el pueblo el Pilar de la Mola, con un mercadillo de artesanía todos los miércoles y domingos tarde. Pura bohemia que conserva el aire hippie que en los años sesenta le dieron músicos como Pau Riba o los rockeros King Crimson, quienes compusieron la mítica canción ‘Formentera Lady’. El faro de la Mola es un lugar mágico que inspiró una de las novelas de Julio Verne: ‘Héctor Servadac’ (1877), como certifica una placa en honor del célebre escritor francés.

Y como colofón, el lujo alcanza también al paladar gracias a una gastronomía ‘slow food’ basada en productos de la tierra y recetas tradicionales, algunas de ellas reinterpretadas por grandes chefs, con el maridaje perfecto de los vinos de sus dos bodegas: Cap de Barbaria y Terramoll. ¡Salud!

And to top it all off, the magical natural spectacle of sunrises and sunsets. At dawn, there is nowhere better than the lighthouse of La Mola, in the east and the highest point on the island. There is also the village of Pilar de la Mola, with a craft market every Wednesday and Sunday afternoon. Pure bohemia that preserves something of the hippy air that it developed in the sixties when musicians were here like Pau Riba or the rockers King Crimson composed the legendary song 'Formentera Lady'. The lighthouse of La Mola is a magical place that inspired one of Jules Verne's novels: Off on a Comet (1877), as certified by a plaque in honour of the famous French writer.

And finally, the luxury of the place also reaches the palate thanks to a 'slow food' gastronomy based on local produce and traditional recipes, some of them reinterpreted by great chefs, with the perfect pairing of the wines from its two wineries: Cap de Barbaria and Terramoll. Cheers!

CÓMO LLEGAR Formentera no dispone de aeropuerto, por lo que si vienes en avión la mejor opción es aterrizar en Ibiza. Desde allí puedes coger un ferry de la compañía Transmapi (www.transmapi.com ) y en media hora llegas al puerto de La Savina. Desde Valencia y Barcelona puedes llegar a Ibiza en barco con Transmediterránea (www. transmediterranea.es) embarcando tu propio coche. También con Balearia (www.balearia.com), que incluye el puerto de Denia.

GETTING THERE Formentera does not have an airport, so if you come by plane the best option is to land in Ibiza.
