pure sophistication “Elegance is the only beauty that never fades.” – Audrey Hepburn While trends come and trends go, the one thing that will never go out of style is elegance. A pure black tux and crisp white dress were the driving force behind this styled shoot that embraced the sophistication of classic style. Set at a private estate in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, our ceremony site was staged under a willow tree adorned by florals and a classic getaway car waited nearby. The white stone estate can be seen standing majestically behind our couple throughout their day. Whatever you call it be it a micro-wedding, a small wedding, or an elopement, COVID-19 had brought a surge of couples tabling their large wedding plans for a more intimate gathering and we are totally here for it! So what exactly is a micro-wedding? The most important thing couples should embrace is that a micro-wedding day is still your wedding day! You can bring all your “larger weddingâ€? elements into your personalized dĂŠcor, keeping your best friends by your side during the ceremony, and writing your own vows even if it is just the two of you and your officiant. Kelly + Stuart | June 6, 2020 Stuart and Kelly were set on having a gorgeous summer wedding at historic Los Poblanos here in Albuquerque, when COVID-19, aka the pandemic that literally no one asked for, hit around the globe. As June grew closer and more restrictions were put into place, these lovers eventually settled on an intimate wedding at the property with just their parents and two of their closest friends. And even though it was small, this day was beyond beautiful and for all the right reasons. The one detail that really stood out to us was Kelly and Stuart’s love for one another. Kelly recalls walking down the aisle and realizing that it didn’t matter if there were a handful of guests or a hundred guests, all she could see in perfect clarity was Stuart smiling at her. At the end of the day, the wedding does not define who we are as husband and wife. Our process was so unique and forced us to problem solve and make very difficult decisions together. We learned how to compromise and understand what was truly important to each of us. The little things we thought at one point were so important, like the napkins or the table settings, didn’t matter at the end of the day. We chose Desert Compass as the location because of the beautiful southwestern details, (adobe walls, Saltillo tiles, and cacti - oh my!), and also to showcase the intimate nature of the property for elopements and similar celebrations. The stenciled talavera backdrop piece was such a unique Spanish-inspired detail, and the gorgeous florals, really made for a romantic ceremony setting. The hexagon Saltillo tiles used for the table settings complemented the hexagon arch from the ceremony, and added some bright pops of color. To top it off these real life lovers looked stunning in non-traditional jewelry and a soft, romantic gown fit with so many beautiful details, including a thigh-high slit. - Alicia Lucia Photography
