Autodidacte, il dessine bientôt pour les boutiques qu’il a toujours admirées. En 1979, il déménage à New York pour poursuivre sa carrière de designer de mode à temps plein.

Tommy Hilfiger lance sa première collection sous son nom en 1985 : il revisite la coupe et les détails des grands classiques : chemises, pantalons… Le style jeune et décontracté de ses premières créations est resté le signe distinctif de la marque tout au long de ses collections.

Depuis 25 ans, Tommy Hilfiger a donné accès au genre vestimentaire américain classique, décontracté, aux consommateurs du monde entier. Ses créations rafraîchissent les classiques et son goût éclairé a fourni les bases d’une marque mondiale.

Hilfiger's career in fashion began in 1969, a high school student then , when he founded a small chain of stores called People's Place with only 150 dollars. Kenzo Takada is the first fashion designer who originates from the Rising Sun Empire. He was born on February 27th, 1939 in Himeji in Japan. Inspired by his Japanese culture, his new modern and romantic style which is light, pure and richly printed, never ceases to surprise us. His style is recognizable at first sight. His printed fabrics are colorful and inevitably evoke a spirit of travel. Kenzo overturns all the codes by using summer materials such as cotton for his winter collections and cuts the stitch to make pullovers and tops.
