Belleza Salon & Spa: Client-Focused, Team-Centered

Rebekah Salazar has always known that she wanted her own salon. Now, her dreams have come true in Belleza Salon and Spa, which she opened in Jonesville in May 2022.

“Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to play with hair, I wanted to do makeup, and all that girly, fun stuff,” Rebekah says. “I always wanted to have my own salon. I just knew that it was a passion of mine and something that I really wanted to do.”

Belleza Salon and Spa is a full-service salon which provides hair services including coloring, cutting, extensions, and styling. The salon also has waxing, lash and brow, and nail services. Spa services include massages, wraps, and facials.

“We specialize in all areas,” Rebekah says. “We do everything hair, all things nails. We even have a little boutique up front where we sell gifts, clothing, and other miscellaneous items.”

Rebekah explains that she got the idea for the boutique from other salons.

“It’s something that I’ve seen in other larger areas, and so it was something I wanted to incorporate,” she says. “It gives people the chance to do some shopping while they are in the salon, while also drawing people in from the street.”

Rebekah says she was excited to have the opportunity to open her business in her own community.

“I was born and raised here in Michigan. I have been in a few different areas, but pretty much local. I grew up mostly in North Adams, then I met my husband, John, who is from Adrian,” she explains. “My dream of opening a salon wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my husband. We have been married five years, and we now have a son, Judah, who just turned one.”

For Belleza Salon and Spa, serving the local community is a mission.

“Our main focus is to introduce a new standard of beauty and self-care in a relaxing and upscale atmosphere. That is our mission,” Rebekah says.

Through her business, she works both to educate about the importance of self-care, while also trying to bring an upscale atmosphere to a more rural area. “I wanted to take our guests out of their normal day to day and provide them with a luxurious experience,” she says.

Rebekah adds that not only was it important to her to provide a good environment for her clients, but also for her team of stylists. “It was certainly on my heart to create a good culture and environment for the stylists,” she explains. “We are not a competitive salon. We are a team, and we work together. We try to keep that the focus, because it is easier to serve guests and for them to have a great experience when we love where we work.”

Cultivating good relationships with clients is a critical part of Belleza Salon and Spa’s mission.

We take time to get to know our guests,” says Rebekah. “We mark off extra time with guests that come in here. We don’t double book ourselves, so that way the guest sitting in our chair has our full focus. It is really important to us to take that time and be present for that person.

The business also works to give back to the community at large, providing free haircuts and giving to local service organizations.

“We have donated to a few different places to help give back to the community,” Rebekah says. “We are just trying to be a blessing in the same way that the community has blessed us by coming and supporting us.”

While Belleza Salon and Spa does take walk-ins, Rebekah recommends that clients book an appointment so they can be sure to get in.

“We are a pretty busy salon, so it just depends on the day if we are available for walk-ins,” she explains. “Most of our guests find it convenient to book online, because it is super quick and easy.”

Rebekah says she hopes to continue to grow the services her salon provides, giving clients even more options. “We would like to expand our spa. While we provide facials, we would like to transition into more medical spa services.” This would include skin rejuvenation treatments, dermal fillers and injectables, and more.

“We would also like to offer tanning services,” says Rebekah. “We are looking to expand within the next four or five years and we have a game plan, so we’ll just have to see how that works out.”
