Ray Chapman-Taylor was in Japan for a year with J-Force and visited a number of the most noted potters, in June 1947 he visited Shoji Hamada at Machiko. Retuming to New Zealand he became the agent for Bernard Leech's St Ives Pottery and Harry Davies Crowan Pottery as well as importing pots from Hamada until 1956 when he passed the Cornwall agencies 011 to Wilf Wright from Wellington. My interest was to provide a range of high quality pots to help New Zealand potters to establish their own standards of quality. R.C-T.
