Persian Paper Toys. No 2 oil on canvas. 1958 signed 103 X 82
A significant late cubist work by the artist painted after her studies under Metzinger in Paris and is part of a body of work often regarded as her most important series in the Middle East 1955-1959 This particular work is derived from various smaller studies and combines a fascination with the paper hats worn by the young street sellers in the markets of Teheran with the principals of cubist construction

A rare late eighteenth century bombe fronted chest with marquetry inlays and ormolu mounts
Following the record price of $53,500 paid at Webb's last April for an inlaid bonheur-du-jour by Anton Seuffert, the small marquetry chest of drawers pictured above fetched the excellent price of $20,000 at our recent antique and furniture sale in June. Webb's have clients not ony for fine paintings, but for fine furniture, fine jewellery, fine silver and porcelain and just about anything fine, including wine.
A catalogue is in preparation for a sale of antique funiture and jewellery, porcelain, silver etc. to be held in late August or early September. Enquiries to Murdoch McLennan.
