Paperless Financial Aid Awards Beginning with the 2010-2011 academic year, the Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) will no longer mail financial aid award letters.

In a continued effort to be environmentally conscious, reduce costs, and to provide up-to-date information, students can access their financial aid award through Online Academic Resources (OAR) via the Emmanuel Portal at portal.emmanuel.edu using their student login.

Students will receive an e-mail notification in their Emmanuel account when their award is available. We strongly encourage students to share this information with their parents.

This change signals our commitment to preserving the College’s resources, while also providing information to our students in a timely manner. We will update you on future improvements and “green” initiatives as they become available.

Important Information Regarding Your Fall 2010 Tuition Bill The fall 2010 tuition bill will be available in early July and is due no later than Wednesday, August 4, 2010.

To waive the $1,157 health insurance premium, students must complete the online waiver by August 4, 2010 at www.universityhealthplans.com.

You must be registered for fall 2010 courses to receive financial aid and/or a tuition bill.

It is not too late to apply for financial aid for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Although the priority filing date has passed, students can still apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. Since some funding is awarded on a funds-available basis, we encourage you to apply for aid as soon as possible.

Refund checks will not be available until all funds are disbursed, which generally occurs in mid-October for the fall semester. Students should be prepared to pay for books and September and October rent.

Announcement: Credit Card Policy Changes Effective July 1, 2010, credit/debit card payments will only be accepted through Online Academic Resources (OAR) using MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Visa is no longer an option and credit card payments via phone will no longer be accepted.

Students and families who choose to make payments with a credit/debit card will be assessed a 2.99% convenience fee, which is retained by a third-party service provider.

Students and families can avoid the convenience fee by paying with a check or by taking advantage of the ACH option through OAR, which allows funds to be transferred to the College from a designated bank using the bank’s routing and account numbers.

Health Insurance Requirement Have you completed the online health insurance waiver or enrollment form? The state of Massachusetts requires students to have health insurance coverage. If you have your own coverage and wish to waive the coverage offered through the College, you must complete an online waiver form. If you don’t have coverage and require the College’s premium, you must complete an online enrollment form.

Both the waiver and enrollment forms can be completed at www.universityhealthplans.com and are due by August 4, 2010. Students who do not complete the waiver by this date will be charged the $1,157 premium, regardless of whether they have other coverage.

Student Spotlight: Lindsay Miskunas This edition’s “Student Spotlight” is Lindsay Miskunas, a recipient of the Carolyn A. Lynch Scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year. Dr. Kimberly Sofronas, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, nominated Lindsay and wrote, “Lindsay is a dynamic and outgoing student who likes to be challenged mathematically.

Her mathematical content knowledge is solid and she clearly enjoys mathematics!”

Congratulations to Lindsay and to all of our students who received an endowed scholarship!
