Earlier this year, our Eco Committee completed surveys around school to measure the understanding around the new food waste system introduced by Wirral Council. As well as delivering Earth Day assemblies, they shared simple steps like finishing meals, saving leftovers and using food waste bins, explaining how this can help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and how food waste can be turned into compost or processed to generate fuel. In July, the Council announced that our students were the winners of the Wirral wide competition to name four of their new food waste wagons, aptly christened; Scrappy Happy, Sir Scrapsalot, Peel Deal and The Compost-ible. We were delighted that Scrappy Happy and its team visited school last week as part of the celebration.
Students from History Club were delighted to welcome a very special local resident, Ken Frost, aged 93, who visited school to share his memories and experiences of life during and after WW2. He spoke openly about his wartime experiences, giving students a fascinating insight into what life was like at the time. He also spoke about the different jobs he has held throughout his life, sharing stories and experiences that brought history to life! The students found his visit engaging and interesting, and it was a wonderful opportunity to hear first-hand accounts from someone who had experienced such an important period in history. Thank you to Miss Bartle for organising.
Performing Arts staff would like to say thank you to everyone who auditioned for the school show this week! With over 150 talented students auditioning, the competition was fierce! The final cast list will be announced next week.
