A very warm welcome to the Knavesmire, where the feature race is a fascinating renewal of the Group 3 William Hill Summer Stakes – I am delighted the weather forecast is set to match the race title!
Nine fillies plus three mares are declared for this Pattern race worth £85,000. A fourth-place finish in a Royal Ascot Group One means Sayidah Dariyan is likely to start as favourite under emerging talent, Billy Loughnane, after a journey up from the Lambourn yard of Richard Hughes. Whilst the same credentials means Nighteyes is the leading local contender in partnership with Danny Tudhope, hailing from the Helmsley operation of David O’Meara.
This black type race marks the great partnership between York and William Hill which stretches back many decades and now celebrates that the Leeds based betting giant plays a key role in the betting experience for York racegoers by operating the on-course betting shops – including the state-of-the-art one that is part of the Bustardthorpe End Development - do go and meet their friendly team.
The record £245,000 prize money today and the course improvements can only be achieved through your support and that of our partners and sponsors. Azets are longstanding supporters of York Racecourse as well as our local accountants and auditors – I hope their team here have a fantastic day. All the members of the Barry family are also most welcome as they celebrate the life of Laura, a talented apprentice rider taken far too soon. Many thanks also to season long partners Irish Thoroughbred Marketing and the British European Breeders’ Fund.
Talking of records, Copper Knight bids to set a modern era one for success at York, in our sixth race today. A stalwart for Tim Easterby and owners, the Denham Family, he takes a 32nd spin down the Knavesmire in search of victory number 8, learn more about him on p64.
Since we last raced the early entries for the feature races at the Sky Bet Ebor Festival (20-23 August) have been made; fittingly for the Longines World’s Best Race 2024 the Juddmonte International could yet include the highest rated turf horses in England, Ireland, France and Japan. Look out for a racecourse logo printed next to the name of any runners here or at Newmarket who are already entered for our showpiece meeting.
It is rare that Yorkshire is forecast to reach today’s temperatures, if you want to learn a little more about how we have planned for it, then read p28.
Listen to your choice of live bands before, during and even after racing, keeps tabs on the action from Newmarket, tennis and the cricket, maybe try one of Chef Hannah’s homemade patisserie cakes from the ground floor eateries in both of the Ebor and Knavesmire Stands or stand by the finish to feel as well as hear the thunder of hooves in the final furlong. However you spend your raceday, I hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable and successful one

We have employed professionally-trained and experienced stewards. In the event of a situation which requires a partial or full evacuation of the stands, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will usher you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and quietly. If we are unable to re-occupy the stands, you may be invited to return to your car or coach. Departure from car and coach parks will be under the direction of the Police. The foregoing is a precautionary tale.
RACING IN THE SUNSHINE
York is designed around being a summer venue, so enjoy the lawns and terraces.
• As it has been a nice summer, the runners today will have acclimatised to running in warm weather, to be honest they are better at this than us humans.
• Specially trained vets & our horse team will keep a close eye for any early signs of distress.
• Horses are best cooled from the outside in, there are 16 fixed equine showers plus a Water Boy (think mobile shower) if needed on the track.
• York adopted water misting fans over a decade ago, they do exactly what it says on the tin, it is an industrial fan connected to a hosepipe to make mist!
• Ice will be added to the water troughs, so when you see those buckets being flung over the runners, be jealous.
• The irrigation system consists of 360 state-of-the-art sprinklers connected to two boreholes. This means that neither mains nor river water is being used.
• Even in this dry spring and summer, we have only used about a third of the permissible volume of borehole water, so plenty left in that sandstone.
• The team water during the night, the most efficient time for both absorption and when winds are lightest.
• Using what is known as a wetting agent, means that the water is better transferred to the roots of the grass rather than sitting on top, in layman’s terms each drop is made 20% more efficient.
• The living roof in the Bustardthorpe End is irrigated by the rainwater harvesting from the adjacent canopy.
FOR HORSES FOR THE TRACK FOR RACEGOERS
• The dress code has been relaxed.
• Water is available free of charge from all the main bars.
• There are drinking fountains and taps around the racecourse.
• Suncream is available free of charge from dispensers and the Racecourse Office.
• Treat yourself to some locally made ice cream.
• Modern buildings are air conditioned, though the number of doors can limit the impact of it.
• The umbrellas and the canopies do offer shade, take care they are not a sun block just a 20% reduction in those rays.
FOR THE TEAM
• There is iced water at every start for the stalls handlers and those working in the sunshine.
• Our grounds team have altered their working day, doing more in the relative cool of the early morning.
• The relaxation of the dress code extends to our team.
• People who have roles that mean they are standing in the sunshine are being rotated and rested during the afternoon.
FOR THE HOUNDS
• Our four-legged helpers at the gates have not been forgotten.
• Look out for their dog bowls and the canopy they are working beneath.
• As valued members of the team, they too will work in shorter shifts.
Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai is proud to be supporting two Group 2 features - the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Middleton Stakes and the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Dante Stakes – races which continue to form an integral part of our partnership with York Racecourse and our wider international sponsorship portfolio.
This year we have extended our support to include title sponsorship of the new Al Basti Equiworld , Dubai Summer Saturday on 28th June which combines exciting Group 3 action on the track with post-racing entertainment to match, ahead of our return in August for the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Gimcrack Stakes in August.
Congratulations are due to York Racecourse Chairman, Bridget Guerin, and the York Racecourse Committee for their continued commitment to continually improving the quality of racing on the Knavesmire and ever increasing prize money which I am sure will prove to be a compelling proposition for owners and trainers throughout the season.
I wish them and all those involved with staging of today’s meeting horses a pleasant and successful day.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part usually in three races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

A RACECOURSE FOR ALL
We want the racecourse to offer both a welcome and an enjoyable evening to all our racegoers and in delivering that we recognise that some may need additional assistance from us. We are also pleased to recognise the sunflower lanyard scheme.
The first thing to say, please just ask for help, if the team don’t have an instant answer, then they know someone who will. The team in the Racecourse Reception (behind the Ebor Stand) act as the link to the rest of the team, as needed.
FAQS
Is there accessible and blue badge parking?
Yes, I hope you found it. All our car parks have designated spaces near their front row. Can I get help with getting to/from the car park, taxi rank or shuttle buses?
Yes, there is a complimentary buggy service to all these points, ask a member of the team and they will radio to arrange your collection. Thank you for your patience as the buggies have a maximum of six passengers, and only one is wheelchair accessible and it’s a big site.
Can I bring a wheelchair?
Yes, if you need to; but we also offer complimentary hire, again from Racecourse Reception (see told you they were the hub). As we hope you’ll appreciate, there are only so many wheelchairs on site, if you need to reserve in advance then call 01904 620911. Considerately piloted mobility scooters are permitted.
Can I bring somebody to help?
Yes, we appreciate that will come in various forms, we hope our “companion comes free” scheme is a help, before your next visit check it out online at www.yorkracecourse.co.uk or just ask the team today.
Are there wheelchair viewing platforms?
Yes, in all stand side area and Stands - easiest thing to do is to ask our Stewards, though a map is available from, you guessed it, Racecourse Reception. Please use these in the spirit intended, with carers being prepared to step aside to allow space for those who need the view the most.
What about toilets and are they part of the Radar scheme?
Yes they are, all the permanent toilet blocks have a accessible capability, please ask for directions, the team nearby have keys, or check that map from you know where.
Are their wheelchair height food and drink counters?
Yes there are but not as many as we’d like, please ask a member of the team to assist you.
Wheelchair height betting?
Yes, there are some Tote counters set at a reduced height though a better plan might be to use the courier service that operates in areas such as the main Champagne Lawns; the Tote team themselves are always willing to help.
Can I bring my assistance dog?
Of course, as the tribute to Grady demonstrates, registered assistance dogs are most welcome. There was one more thing?
Please ask, we are keen to help wherever we can, appreciating our racegoers may face a range of challenges.

Such races are designed for close competition, so the handicapper is the independent assessor who rates horses on past performance seeking to get them crossing the line together, by handing out differing weights.
The best, on past performance, will be the highest rated horse, Streets Of Gold, finds himself at the top and so will carry most weight.
If you are looking for help, follow the racecourse tipster, Baron Ferdinand, who has marked his selections with a red bi plane.

KNAVESMIRE TIP
Being drawn in stall 13 isn’t insurmountable but it doesn’t really do Dubai Treasure many favours. The lightly-raced filly also needs another personal best running off 10lb higher than her winning return at Lingfield 22 days ago. With those factors in mind, PHYSIQUE could be worth chancing from a more favourable stalls position. His recent form when paired with Hollie Doyle is highly encouraging and he can play a big part off 1lb lower than his last winning mark. Previous C&D winners Feel The Need and It Just Takes Time hold each-way appeal in a wide-open race.

The William Hill Summer Stakes FACT FILE:
WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF THIS RACE?
WHO WAS THE FIRST WINNER?
Carranita won the first renewal for trainer Bryn Palling and jockey Tim Sprake.
Distance
Six furlongs
Prize money £85,000
The William Hill Summer Stakes was first run in 1996 when it was a Listed contest for fillies and mares aged three and above. It was upgraded to Group 3 status in 2003.
HAVE ANY WINNERS SCALED EVEN GREATER HEIGHTS?
Serious Attitude won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes during her juvenile season and after her win here went on to land another Group 1 in Canada.
The 2004 winner Tante Rose was arguably the classiest as she won the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup two months after victory here.
Last year’s winner, Flora Of Bermuda, is now a regular on the podium of Group One sprints, finishing third at Royal Ascot last month.
WHAT IS THE FASTEST TIME FOR THE RACE?
That honour falls to Ladies Are Forever, owned by the much missed Reg Bond, who recorded a time of 1min 9.18secs in 2011. She also ran the second fastest time of 1min 9.30secs in 2014.
ANY OVERSEAS-TRAINED WINNERS?
Theann became the first overseas-trained winner when landing the spoils for Aidan O’Brien and Seamie Heffernan in 2007. In 2012 the prize went to Germany when Gracia Directa was partnered to victory by Robert Winston for the Hamburg-based trainer Dominik Moser. That filly will remain the last winner based overseas as all of today’s competitors hail from British yards.
Gracia Directa
The late Reg Bond with his star mare
Geoff Oldroyd
LEADING TRAINERS?
Geoff Oldroyd won this race three times in recent years courtesy of his flying filly Ladies Are Forever. Toby Balding managed to win the race twice with Palace Affair in 2001 & 2002 whilst Richard Hannon Snr also won the race twice with Nanoushka in 1998 and Lucky Spin in 2005. Handlers with a runner today who have already won the race are William Haggas, who saddles First Instinct and Ed Walker who won the race in 2019, sends Celandine.
LEADING RIDER?
Two jockeys’ have won this race more than once. Steven Carson partnered Palace Affair to back-to-back victories. The now retired Paul Hanagan joined him in 2019 when guiding Royal Intervention to victory for Ed Walker Nine years prior he had won the race on Rose Blossom, for the Yorkshire based Richard Fahey. Last year’s winning rider PJ MDonald returns seeking further glory, while Cieren Fallon hunts a rare prize that eluded his father, Kieran.
HAT-TRICK HEAVEN
In 2014, Ladies Are Forever achieved the quite remarkable feat of winning this race three times. Interestingly, for each of her three victories in 2011, 2013 & 2014 she was ridden by a different jockey - Silvestre De Sousa, Graham Lee & Danny Tudhope respectively She didn’t take part in 2012!
WHO ARE THE SPONSORS?
Founded in 1934, William Hill is one of the most trusted brands in the marketplace, attracting millions of customers from around the world. They now bring that expertise to the Retail betting shops here at York.
HOW DO YORKSHIRE
STABLES FIGURE?
Initially not all that well. Tim Easterby won it with Hot Tin Roof in 2000 but we had to wait until 2010 for another Yorkshire-trained winner when Rose Blossom scored for Richard Fahey. Since, then Geoff Oldroyd has boosted the tally thanks to the success of Ladies Are Forever, while Kevin Ryan’s Queen Jo Jo and Karl Burke’s Swingalong continue make sure the White Rose features prominently on the roll of honour It falls to Nighteyes, Rogue Sensation and Beaujolais Nouveau to continue this recent trend.

The William Hill Summer Stakes is part of the Pattern pyramid which denotes the best contests, Listed, Group 3 (like this one), Group 2 and Group 1.
In the search for competition, this race is only open to older fillies and mares. Weight allowances are made for the variation in strength of 3yos; notice how Sayidah Deriyan is one to benefit over an older market fancy, Nighteyes. A previous win at this level or higher, would have attracted a penalty weight, however toady’s field are seeking that first black type triumph.
An in-form stable could be the charm here, see the table at the beginning of this race

KNAVESMIRE TIP
SAYIDAH DARIYAN still holds untapped potential and tops the shortlist after her highly creditable fourth-placed finish in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. That is arguably the strongest piece of recent form available and dropping in class could be just the ticket for Richard Hughes’ low-mileage filly. Electric Storm surely has a decent race within her reach and is dangerous to underestimate. However, three-year-olds have been dominant in this race of late and the likes of First Instinct and Celandine could take advantage of their weight-for-age allowance to pose stronger threats to the selection.

A WINTER’S TALE:
WHAT IS NEW AT YORK THIS SEASON?
NEXT GENERATION CANOPIES CHAMPAGNE LAWNS
Nine next generation canopies now stand proudly on the Champagne Lawns. Clever enough to let the grass grow beneath them, they should prove popular if we get a summer shower. For the October racedays the built-in heaters will allow racegoers to keep enjoying the fresh air Each one has a speaker, so the race commentary will come to your table
BUSTARDTHORPE END
SOUTHERN END DEVELOPMENT
Last August we were honoured when Her Majesty The Queen, our Royal Patron, opened this development to the South of the Knavesmire Stand. Check out the Churchill Tyres lawn & canopy, the Theakston and Guinness bars, as well as food outlets and a WIlliam Hill shop
MR MOWITALL
Joining the grounds team over winter were a trio of robotic mowers, one creatively named, Mr Mowitall. They are helping with the lawns and car parks, leaving the human talent better able to focus on the track itself
THE TEAM NEVER REST
Maintenance is key, if a little dull. Over 6,000 pints of paint have been used by the team this winter and the Knavesmire Stand Roof has had extensive repairs, (it is nearly thirty years old!).
A LIVING FLOWER WALL
OPPOSITE THE MELROSE STAND
The flowers are petunia and petchoa, grown by Head Gardener, Zak Rafferty and his team, from seedlings in our greenhouses. That Insta moment now has real flowers behind it.
THE
BARS HAVE IT
Over the Winter a number of bars have been given a face-lift. There is a new Pink Gin & Cocktail Bar on the main Champagne Lawns, a second Guinness Bar near the Roberto Lawn, with a refreshed Kylie Minogue Wines Bar next door The fun murals from the Dublin based brand should make a good selfie
NEW ON THE MENU
Around the racecourse there are a lot of new choices. Perhaps the sweet treats of the Churros will follow your Nachos, both are now part of the Knavesmire Courtyard offering.
If you like spice, then the eateries on the ground floors of both the Knavesmire and Ebor Stands now serve our homemade Curry Club dishes.
Finger lickin’ chicken? Try the grills in either the Bustardthorpe End or the John Carr Terrace. Try the Rustic Pizza freshly baked at the Moët Roof Terrace.

All are registered with the European Breeders’ Fund. This means that their sire (father) is based and registered in Europe with the EBF, which is a scheme to encourage the best in bloodstock.
As before, though all are limited in experience, a previous win has been “rewarded” with additional weight, which explains Bosa Nova’s burden after winning at Chepstow.
The Punters Panel at 1.15pm might offer some clues.

KNAVESMIRE TIP
Bosa Nova scored gamely on her debut at Chepstow and is respected as the only previous winner in the race. However, this looks deeper and the concession of 4lb to the rest is persuasive enough to look towards the newcomers for the outright winner The well-related Secret Echo is bred to have an impact and is one of the first to consider representing an in-form yard. However, the trip could be a stumbling block and AYLIN, a half-sister to a couple of wining sprinters, shades the vote on the basis of 6f potentially being more suitable at this early stage

AUGUST CALENDAR
With the first stage of entries received for the feature races at the
20 Wednesday
Things to do: Win a race that has thrice been best in the world
Twenty seven of the best middle distance horses are currently entered in the £1.25m Juddmonte International. An intriguing list of hopefuls is made all the more interesting by the entry of Sheema Classic winner, Danon Decile, owned by Danox Co Ltd and trained by Shogo Yasuda. It would be a first European excursion for the team and they will be hoping to go one better than Zenno Rob Roy, who finished second exactly twenty years ago after making the 25,000-mile round trip. France could be well represented with the likes of Caldangan, who was last seen winning the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. Dual Derby winner Lambourn would likely be the chief hope of the Emerald Isle for Aidan O’Brien, along with Sandown Eclipse winner Delacroix, they head thirteen potential runners from across the Irish Sea. The best British hope comes in the form of Field Of Gold for the Gosden team. Bred by Juddmonte, the the son of Kingman is already dual Group One winner this season and currently heads the betting.
Become the sixteenth colt to win Sky Bet Great Voltigeur and Betfred St Leger
Fifteen colts have done the double and this year’s list of entries provides plenty of hope that 2025 could see that number increase, following Continuous’s success in 2023. Merchant looks to be the leading hope after he won the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot, having won at York on his previous outing Serious Contender chased home Lambourn in the Irish Derby after previously finishing just a length behind Merchant at Royal Ascot, he looks to be the current number one for Aidan O’Brien. Ralph Beckett could be well represented with the unbeaten Amiloc. He could well follow in the footsteps of 2020 winner Pyledriver, who won the King Edward VII Stakes before winning this Knavesmire contest.
21 Thursday
Things to do: Prove to be one of the best fillies in Europe
The last time the race went over to mainland Europe was in 2012, when Shareta scored for Alain de Roger-Dupre, this year Les Bleus could have Sunly, in the colours of powerhouse, Juddmonte. She may not be alone, with Aventure completing any potential French challenge for Christophe Ferland. Ballydoyle has had a strong grip on this race in recent years, winning four of the last five renewals. Minne Hauk looks likely to lead the line after her Betfred Oaks victory. Tattersalls Musidora winner Whirl could also be a major player after finishing just a neck behind her stablemate at Epsom. In all, there are a eight entries from the Emerald Isle, including from Aidan’s son, Joseph and Paddy Twomey. Kalpana provides the chief home team challenge for Andrew Balding and is another representing Juddmonte. She’s already a Group One winner and any cut in the ground would surely increase her chances of the York race becoming a second.
Sky Bet Ebor Festival, we mark your calendar.
22 Friday
Things to do: Be the fastest
Emphatic Norfolk winner Charles Darwin could bid to become the first two-year-old since Kingsgate Native (2007) to win the Friday feature as well as the first for Aidan O’Brien since Mozart in 2001. Australian revelation Asfoora, may well attempt to go a few better than his fourth last year and could give Henry Dwyer a first winner on the Knavesmire. Commonwealth Cup winner Time For Sandals will bid to give trainer Harry Eustace another Group One, he may well be joined by the horse that finished behind him that day, Arizona Blaze. Who represents big spenders, Amo Racing.
Follow in the hooves of greats like Mill Reef or Rock of Gibraltar
23 Saturday
North Yorkshire could be well represented in the G2 Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Gimcrack Stakes, with impressive winner, Reciprocated, the pick of the entries for Karl Burke. He remains unbeaten in two starts and would likely take a lot of stopping. There could be a bit of American flare, with Outfielder holding an entry for Wesley Ward. He was an emphatic winner on his only start Charlie Appleby has won two of the last ten renewals, so keep tabs on Maximised and Wise Approach.
Things to do: Earn a place in the folklore of the Knavesmire - you’ve got two shots this year!
That is the honour that awaits the victor of one of the toughest flat handicaps in the world and one of the richest in Europe, the £500,000 Sky Bet Ebor. The beauty of a handicap is that you can make a case for all twenty-two who finally make the stalls, never mind the full entry list. So, which to mention; Sky Bet Race To The Ebor winners seem a logical place to start. Tabletalk has gone up in the weights considerably since his win here last year. Jorvik winner Almosh’her will be hoping to bounce back from his Royal Ascot disappointment. Curragh victor Mr Percy is an interesting proposition, while Al Qareem may just be handicapped out of contention. Whoever wins, they can look forward to a warmer November than is on offer in Yorkshire, as the Sky Bet Ebor winner now has a guaranteed start in the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
Folkore also awaits the first ever winner of the now Group One Sky Bet City Of York Stakes. Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes winner Lazzat makes plenty of appeal for Wathnan racing if stepping up in trip, while three time Group One winner Rosallion may well step down a furlong to run here. Charlie Maranoa, recently acquired by the Bond Thoroughbreds could make a homecoming raid after a second in Group One company in France.
Hopefully the above sets the scene for a twenty eight race festival where £100,000 is the lowest prize fund and the richest maiden race in the land, the British Stallion Studs EBF Convivial Maiden Stakes, or the richest nursery handicap in the Sky Bet Stakes, add to the cocktail of high fashion and high class sport.

Back to handicap conditions, your vital statistics are; 3yo+, rated 66-85, going a mile and a quarter, with Classic Encounter considered the best by the handicapper on previous form.
“Offer a chance for everyone” is a good maxim for those planning races and in this contest the upper rating of 85 means that these are still quality horses but they won’t have their spotlight stolen by a real superstar.
If you are seeking inspiration (or someone to blame), look at the Press Selections Board, adjacent to the Winner’s Enclosure.

KNAVESMIRE TIP
Having put his fifth-placed defeat at Newbury behind him when landing a 20-runner affair over C&D the following day, Dawn Of Liberation warrants respect in his bid to secure a fourth triumph in his last five outings. However, a 9lb hike could leave the son of Churchill vulnerable, with preference for the down-in-class CLASSIC ENCOUNTER. The four-year-old arrives on the back of a respectable fourth at Sandown and he may regain the winning thread. Financer is also noted.

COPPER KNIGHT: WINNING-MOST HORSE
EYES ON OUR SIXTH RACE WHEN COPPER KNIGHT, HOPES TO RECORD WIN NUMBER EIGHT.
The Denham family first ran Copper Knight at York back in 2017 when he won the first of his seven races. It was an assertive performance over then stable mate Rasheeq and was very much a sign of things to come. He had further success at York before taking his most prestigious prize at the track. The John Smith’s City Walls Stakes 2019, his first Listed success. His superb seventh victory came back in July.
A plaque has been erected in his honour on the pre-parade ring side of the weighing room, where it reads ‘winning most’, as he may well not be done with winning at York just yet! Last July Copper Knight made history by registering another win on the Knavesmire. He remains a stalwart of Tim Easterby’s operation, with a record breaking seven wins. Will Copper Knight continue to make history with an eighth win today on his 32nd run at York?

RACE DESCRIPTION
Distance: 5f
Race Type: Handicap
Rating: 66-85
Prize Money: £25,000
Age: 3+
Stalls: Centre
Another competitive handicap for 3yo+ horses, run over the shortest rip in UK racing, just five furlongs.
Remember, it’s a handicap so the best on past performance in the eyes of the handicapper will be the highest rated horse and start by carrying the most weight, King Of Stars in this instance. However, connections can opt to use an apprentice jockey and so claim a reduction, see how Brazen Bolt has 5lb lifted from his back as Warren Fentiman takes the ride.
So, pit your wits against the handicapper – as clues, look for C (has won at York) or D (has won over this distance) against the horse’s name- Copper Knight carries both as testament to his record setting seven previous wins at York.

Muker went in by a neck in a tougher event at Doncaster last week and is a previous C&D winner to take seriously, but the vote goes to FORAGER. Simon Pearce’ filly completed a course-and-distance double on her most recent outing and she may have been worth more than the winning margin suggests on that occasion. With just a 6lb higher rating to contend with, she can complete the hat-trick. Copper Knight and Brazen Bolt are others to consider

RACE DESCRIPTION

Race Type: Handicap
Rating: 61-80
Prize Money: £25,000
Age: 4+
Stalls: Centre
A final handicap but with an added dimension to the contest, in that this time, all the riders are still apprentices.
Connections can reduce the weight carried by their contender by choosing which apprentice jockey to use; the level of the reduction depends on the past success of that apprentice. You can see this reflected in the bracketed figure after the rider’s name Rising star, Andrew Breslin, has enough winners in the bank that Trojan Storm gets no relief; whereas the Donagh Murphy/Road To Wembley partnership are 7lbs better off, as the young pilot learns the trade
Pick the winner and then you can bask in the glory until around 2.02pm tomorrow afternoon.

KNAVESMIRE TIP
Crowd Quake is undoubtedly in the form of his life after making it five wins out of his last six starts at Newmarket last month, but a 6lb higher mark makes life harder With that in mind, SECRET BEACH gets the vote. The four-year-old finished just under three lengths clear of the third when hitting the woodwork at Newbury last time and is just 2lb higher. With a tidier start from the stalls and this extra furlong aiding his cause, he looks the way to go Road To Wembley is another to consider SECRET BEACH
