The next race is The Dot Tolson Memorial Handicap Hurdle racing forThe Tolson Trophy.
Family and friends are here to celebrate Dot’s life after she was so suddenly taken from us just over 8 years ago. Dot was a member here and an avid racegoer and enjoyed many happy times with Rob, Crystal and family here at Wincanton Racecourse. Dot’s favourite trainers were Venetia Williams, Paul Nichols and Charlie Mann (Sadly no longer training) and her favourite jockey was Sam Twiston-Davies. Previous winners have been trained by Jimmy Frost, Colin Tizzard, Jonjo O’Neill, Robert Walford, Nigel Twiston-Davies and Sue Smith.
There seems to be a theme of family connections winning this race which might be a tip in itself if you are looking for the winner
There is already a commemorative bench in Dot‘s name and her ashes are scattered at the last fence so we know she’s here in spirit today cheering all the winners home. All of the family and friends would like to thank Mark Burridge of Derek Burridge Ltd for the wonderful trophies, The Jockey Club and especially Will Mitchell, Matt Moxon and everyone here at Wincanton Racecourse for all that they have done to make today so very special.
Lastly we are trying to raise some money for Dot’s charity which is The Injured Jockey’s Fund so if you would like to make a donation please use the link below on a computer or QR code on a smartphone to contribute.
Check out our JustGiving page for the Injured Jockeys Fund and Help us raise more money for Dot’s charity.
