JOCKEYS
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.
OTHER USEFUL DETAILS
6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey
7. Saddlecloth number
8. Horse’s name
9. Days since the horse last run
10. Horse’s age
11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs)
12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire) and mother (dam)
13. Horse’s owner
14. Horse’s breeder
15. Birthplace of horse (outside GB)
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

EZMERELLDA looks on a fair mark switched to handicap company and can take advantage of her weight allowance to score for the second time over hurdles. Passing Kate has held her form well since joining Matt Sheppard and represents a strong-looking Leicester formline, so merits plenty of respect, with Konigin Isabella also respected after a year off

Both Dick and Sue Woodhouse were born and lived their whole lives in Dorset. Dick went intofarming and Sue wasa farmer’s daughter.Dick marrying an already talented leading lady Point-to-Point Rider put in placeaformidable team.
Their lives centred on hunting and racing horses, being owners, riders, trainers, lorry drivers, grooms and breeders as well as Stewarding at manyPoint-to-Points and also hereatWincanton. Having said that, the usual result wasDick doing mostofthe riding and Sue all the training!
They had manysuccessful horses but twostand out. Woodside Terrace, purchased at Ascot Sales for360gns, went on to win the Cheltenham Foxhunters in 1965, as a 100/1 outsider and Dick’sfirstride under rules. Then Highworth arrived, to be a multiple Point-to-Point winner and successful regularly in Hunter Chases hereat Wincanton. He also wastowin the Cheltenham Foxhunters, in 1970, and went on the next year to run in the Grand National –fulfilling Dick’sgreatestambition.
Sadly Dick died in 1983 in his early fifties from cancer but Sue carried on regularly Stewarding both hereand at Taunton. She continued to breed aline of highly successful Point-to-Pointers, the mostwell-known and prolific being Hops And Pops, who provided Robert Alner with some of his early successes as atrainer.Sue retired in 2003and wasduly presented with the Wessex Area Point-to-Point Awardfor lifetime achievement.
Sue sadly passed away in 2008 but this Hunter Chase continues to be run annually in Dick and Sue's memory
