Welcome Welcome to Wincanton Racecourse. This racecard will provide you with all the information you will need for your time with us. Should you wish for information about future fixtures, please scan the QR code below. We hope you enjoy your visit.
Raceday Preview 12:20pm - A small field for the opener but there still could be plenty of early pace with two or three horses likely to be prominent in the early stages. Hereos De Romay won’t mind the going and has not done much wrong for Kim Bailey so far. He steps up in trip today. Lord Of Thunder found the Grade 2 race at Chepstow last year a bit too classy for him but won here at Wincanton in impressive fashion last time out. It may well be a battle on testing ground but Lord Of Thunder has plenty of stamina and good recent course form to overcome his rivals today. 12:55pm - Majestic Jameela was an easy winner of her maiden at Leicester on heavy ground in November. In her last outing she was no match for Wodhooh at Newbury in a Listed fillies’ juvenile hurdle but still ran a respectable 4th that day. The horse who finished 5th at Newbury has won since. Today Majestic Jameela gets the 4-year-old fillies weight allowance and looks a danger on testing ground in a race where many have question marks over them. Fresh Kiss looks an interesting recruit for Jamie Snowdon and is worth a market check on British debut. 1.30pm - Prince Quali probably needed the run last time out here over hurdles and can’t be discounted now running over fences off a mark of 114. He does look an interesting runner for Robert Walford. Magic Saint is probably the most talented of these horses but he has not been straight forward. He gets testing ground today and it’s his first run since the summer, but he may be worth another go now off a mark of 125 (this time last year he was running off 140+). 2.05pm - Daany showed some decent form here at Wincanton when finishing 2nd in a Class 5 handicap hurdle in November. It was not a bad follow up run last time out at Exeter finishing 4th of 16 runners. He looks like a horse who could be improving, and a chance is taken on the bottom weight. Feach Amach is another horse to look out for. The former Irish trained flat horse got off to winning ways at big odds in his last run at Sedgefield and looks to have now taken a liking to his new jumps career. 2.40pm - Georges Saint will be suited by the ground conditions and was an impressive 12 length winner at Fakenham on heavy ground before Christmas. He looks the one to beat in this line up. Huelgoat was disappointing last time out but if you are willing to forgive the one bad run, then he does have big claims here. It’s possible he might be better over this shorter trip, and he does like it here at Wincanton. 3.15pm - Individualiste was an easy winner at Taunton last time out. The first-time pieces seemed to do the trick that day and are being used again here today. Intimate should handle the ground conditions and looks to be improving. He ran into a good one at Fontwell in his seasonal reappearance when beaten by Classic Lord and gave a good account of himself finishing a close 3rd last time out at Uttoxeter. 3.50pm - Percy Veering is going for four handicap wins in a row. He now runs off a mark of 100 which is 19 lbs higher up the weights since his win a Warwick in November. It looks likely that he will make the running again here. Caeruleum is much better off at the weights today and could well reverse the Exeter result which saw him finish behind Percy Veering. However, slight preference is that Kim Bailey’s gelding can stay ahead of the handicapper and make it 4 in a row.
