TIMEFORM VIEW Fair hurdler/staying chaser but remains a long-standing maiden, for all that he went agonisingly close at Ffos Las in October. Not so good at Ludlow last time and will probably find one ot two too good once more. Star RatingHHHII BHA 104 4 GET PREPARED (GB) (238) 614U5-P

TIMEFORM VIEW Steadily progressive over hurdles last term and placed both completed starts in this sphere, including over 19.4f here (soft) last time. 1lb lower now and well worth a try over this longer trip, so there’s cause for optimism. TIMEFORM VIEW Shaping up well over fences, yet to be asked for effort when falling 2 out on return at Hexham and respectable third to Sir Apollo over 27f at Sedgefield (soft) last time. TIMEFORM VIEW Off the mark in 27f Sedgefield handicap chase last month from Espoir Moriviere, jumping much better than previously returned to front-running and having no issues with the longer trip. Likely to give another good account off this 5lb higher mark. Star RatingHHHHH BHA 87 12 BEAT THE EDGE (IRE) (23) 4004-P4

TIMEFORMVIEWRunner-up sole completed start in points but no great encouragement over hurdles. Better than on chase debut when fourth of 8 here (19.4f, soft) this month but more will be needed now back up in trip if he’s to get his head in front. New headgear. PLAY SMARTER

SIR APOLLO opened his account with a bit to spare at Sedgefield last month and seems sure to go well once more after a 5lb rise if his jumping holds up again. Aire Valley Lad looks to have turned over a new leaf and is respected after scoring here 3 weeks ago. Get Prepared, on chase debut, and Espoir Moriviere are a couple of others to consider. www stockeldparkrda.co.uk Meet Humphrey & Butterscotch (Butsy).

The two ponies are regulars at the weekly sessions run by the Stockeld Park group of Riding for the Disabled. But today they will be in their own special paddock at the races along with their helpers, ready to welcome as many visitors as possible.

Humphrey is a pure bred Dales pony. He is 11 and started going to RDA after Covid. He is a hit with the children because he is so quiet. He bends his head down so they can cuddle him and gets called the BFG, the Big Friendly Giant.

Butsy, as most of the children call him, is a popular member of the RDA team. He is about 23 and has taken part in numerous competitions including Pony Club events. His favourite is show jumping especially when it gets to the jump off. He bombs round the jumps but at RDA he is as quiet as a mouse and very attentive and will do whatever is asked of him. The children love him and he loves them.

Stockeld Park RDA group was set up in 1973 at Stockeld Park and was officially opened by the Princess Royal. Now based at Harrogate Riding Centre, Burn Bridge, the group provides children with physical and learning difficulties from four local schools the opportunity to ride, which as well as bringing great pleasure has many other benefits. The group celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2023. and a number of events are being planned to celebrate this milestone.

Although all RDA groups operate under the umbrella organisation they are independent charities. Helpers and instructors all give their time freely and no charge is made to the children or the schools. The group depends on funds raised through sponsored activities.

Volunteers and supporters from Stockeld Park RDA will be holding an exit collection today after racing and thank you in advance for your donations, which all go to help the club continue.
