RACE DESCRIPTION Juvenile races are designed solely for three-year-olds in order to allow the younger horses to gain valuable experience by racing against each other before taking on their older, more battle-hardened rivals. Initially, every runner in this two mile race is allotted 11st (fillies 7lb allowance), before previous winners are given a penalty dependant on the class of race which they won – 7lb for a hurdle victory or 12lb for two hurdle race victories.

Tongue Strap worn first time by No. 6. Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn first time by No. 3, 7. Hood worn by No. 1. PLAY SMARTER THE CHURCHILL LAD probably didn’t beat much when a wide-margin scorer at Cartmel on hurdles bow last month but this looks very winnable under a penalty. Well-bred Highland Frolic is the obvious threat given his fairly-useful form on the Flat for the Gosdens.
