RACE DESCRIPTION Juvenile races are designed solely for three-year-olds in order to allow the younger horses to gain valuable experience by racing against each other before taking on their older, more battle-hardened rivals. Initially, every runner in this two mile race is allotted 11st (fillies 7lb allowance), before previous winners are given a penalty dependant on the class of race which they won – 7lb for a hurdle victory or 12lb for two hurdle race victories.

PLAY SMARTER THE CHURCHILL LAD probably didn’t beat much when a wide-margin scorer at Cartmel on hurdles bow last month but this looks very winnable under a penalty. Well-bred Highland Frolic is the obvious threat given his fairly-useful form on the Flat for the Gosdens.
