RACE DESCRIPTION Juvenile races are designed solely for four-year-olds in order to allow the younger horses to gain valuable experience by racing against each other before taking on their older, more battle-hardened rivals. Initially, every runner in this two miles hurdle race is allotted 10st 12lb (fillies 10st 5lb), before previous winners are given a penalty dependant on the class of race which they won – 6lb for a Class 4 or 5 hurdle race or 10lb for a Class 1 to 3 hurdle race victory.

1 GRAYSTONE (IRE) (28) 231F D

11-5

Gr or Ro g Dark Angel (IRE) - Crown of Diamonds (USA) Jockey: Bryony Frost Owner: Mr James Summers Trainer: Lucy Wadham, Newmarket Breeder: Rabbah Bloodstock Limited Sponsor: Weatherbys Hamilton LLP

TIMEFORM VIEW Has taken well to hurdling, winning at Warwick in December and looking set to add to that when stumbling and falling at the last at Taunton 3 weeks later. Should go well. Star RatingHHHHI BHA 121 2 ILLICO DES PLACES (FR) (17) 154

B g Jeu St Eloi (FR) - Liliane Star (FR) Owner: Lady Gibbings Breeder: Mme Marie-Pierre Lejeune

11-5

Jockey: David Noonan Trainer: Tom Symonds, Hentland Sponsor: Gun Dog Gin Ltd

TIMEFORM VIEW Bolted up on sole start in France but has proved too headstrong on both runs in Britain finishing a remote fourth at Ludlow latterly. Needs to settle better. Star RatingHHIII BHA 3 MESSAGE PERSONNEL (FR) (47) 415

11-5

B g Saint des Saints (FR) - Victoria Princess (FR) Jockey: Harry Skelton Owner: Mr J. Hales Trainer: Dan Skelton, Alcester Breeder: Mr Jean-Philippe Dubois Sponsor: Ladbrokes, The Air Ambulance Service (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire)

TIMEFORM VIEW Fairly useful form over hurdles, winning in France last summer. Not disgraced when fifth in a decent race at Cheltenham on his British debut and likely has more to offer. Yard won this in 2018. Star RatingHHHHH BHA 128

4 FLEURMAN (IRE) (111) 10-12

Gr g Mastercraftsman (IRE) - Fleur de Nuit (IRE) Jockey: Aidan Coleman Owner: Bective Stud Trainer: Olly Murphy, Wilmcote Breeder: Fleur Partnership

TIMEFORM VIEW Fairly useful on Flat (stays 14.5f). Bought out of Ralph Beckett’s yard for 130,000 gns in October. Interesting recruit to hurdles. Star RatingHHHHI BHA 5 JOHNNY BOOM (IRE) (16) 6

10-12

Ch g New Bay - Moody Blue (IRE) Jockey: Danny McMenamin Owner: Dan Gilbert and Andrew Bruce Trainer: Brian Ellison, Malton Breeder: Oghill House, Sledmere Stud & D. Hyland Sponsor: Brian Ellison Racing Limited

TIMEFORM VIEW Fair 3-time Flat winner (stays 1 1/4m) for Richard Fahey but last in a Newcastle juvenile hurdle and Southwell AW handicap since joining this yard. Star RatingHHIII BHA 6 PIECEDERESISTANCE (IRE) (84) 3 BF

10-12

B g Gleneagles (IRE) - Positive Step (IRE) Jockey: Conor O’Farrell Owner: Mr Ryder Sugden Trainer: Micky Hammond, Middleham Breeder: Highpark Bloodstock Ltd

TIMEFORM VIEW Fairly useful on the Flat in France for Andre Fabre. Could only manage a well-held third on his Sedgefield hurdle debut in November but that fact he went off at 10/11 suggests better was expected. Star RatingHHHII BHA -

Hood worn by No. 2. Stewards Note: ILLICO DES PLACES: Following its run on 10/1/2022 it was reported that the horse ran too freely. JOHNNY BOOM: Following its run on 11/1/2022 it was reported that the horse lacked drive in a slow paced race. Probable S.P’s: 13-8 Message Personnel (FR), 11-4 Graystone (IRE), 7-2 Fleurman (IRE), 14-1 Piecederesistance (IRE), 16-1 Illico des Places (FR), 25-1 Johnny Boom (IRE)

MESSAGE PERSONNEL is fancied to build on his opening run in Britain and land a second hurdle success, although Graystone could provide a big threat if he hasn’t suffered any ill effects from a late tumble at Taunton. It’ll also be interesting to see how much strength there is in the betting behind Olly Murphy’s Fleurman. TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.MESSAGE PERSONNEL (FR) 2.GRAYSTONE (IRE) 3.FLEURMAN (IRE)
