RACE DESCRIPTION This is a three miles and 45 yards handicap steeple chase for four-year-olds and upwards. The majority of handicaps are designed for horses from with a specific ratings band but this particular race has no rating restrictions attached to it which allows horses with a higher rating to take part. Even so, the higher rated horses must still concede weight to their lower rated rivals, which tends to make open handicaps very competitive races.

PLAY SMARTER

SILVER HALLMARK isn’t seen very often, but he quickly proved himself a useful chaser last season and looked as good as ever on his Carlisle return, so he makes plenty of appeal now stepping up to 3m for the first time in a handicap. Debece shaped very well at Sandown in March and looks interesting returning after another breathing operation, with Empire Steel and Good Boy Bobby also shortlisted.
