VIRGIN BET PREVIEW

1.30 - The Virgin Bet Warwick Handicap Chase ran over 2 ½ miles has a small field of 5 runners. The top weight STOLEN SILVER (NAP) has previous form on good ground and conditions should not be an issue for him. He unseated in the Paddy Power Gold Cup in November but bounced back to good form with an impressive 2nd place at Cheltenham in January to make him a top contender for today. Another with good claims is the Donald McCain trained Mackenberg, who should be suited by the step back up to 2 ½ miles. Messire Des Obeaux would look well in if he can bounce back to form but disappointed last time out and is opposed today.

2.05 - 6 Mares go to post for the Virgin Bet Best Odds Daily Mares’

Listed Hurdle LOVE ENVOI looks like the one they all have to beat here. Both Indefatigable and Molly Ollys Wishes have been a little disappointing so far in their latest outings. Theatre Glory looks the most likely contender to be able to take on the impressive Love Envoi but she will need further improvement to do so

2.40 - All eyes will be on the mighty JONBON in the Virgin Bet Grade 2

Kingmaker Novices’ Chase The antepost Arkle favourite for the Cheltenham festival has looked very good since switching to fences. Only question is if he will handle this better ground but will be hard to beat if he does. Haddex Des Obeaux should get a worthy mention here and looks like Jonbons biggest danger. He romped home here a few weeks ago albeit on heavy ground beating the likes of Third Time Lucki who has since won at Sandown. It looks a good renewal of the Kingmaker which will be viewed with much anticipation. Preference is for Jonbon to continue his unbeaten run over fences for Nicky Henderson.

3.13 - The 2 mile Virgin Bet Daily Extra Places Novices’ Hurdle has 11 runners declared. Many of these runners have struggled to find some good recent form but HULLNBACK has been consistent in his runs to date and looked well when winning at Haydock in November Gitche Gumee was a beaten odds on favourite here at Warwick in a Novice Hurdle and hung to his left in his last race over Christmas which is a slight concern. Byron Hill is likely better than bear form suggests and has place claims but Hullnback is hard to oppose here.

3.48 - The Virgin Bet Daily Price Boosts Handicap Hurdle ran over 2 miles has a few potential nice types going to post. HATUR D’OUDAIRES may be worth having another go with now returning back to 2 miles and getting good ground which should not be much of a concern having previously won a Novice Hurdle here at Warwick on good ground. Mr Freedom found a few too good in a competitive Juvenile race at Cheltenham’s November meeting but ran a credible 2nd in a handicap at Plumpton and is not discounted. Non Stop is a course and distance winner and although he may want more ease in the ground, he is a danger on handicap hurdle debut.

4.23 - The Virgin Bet Fives Handicap Hurdle ran over 2 miles 5 furlongs has 12 runners declared. Dime Store Cowgirl showed a clear improvement in form for the Dan Skelton yard when winning her handicap hurdle last time out at Catterick and is still most likely well in off the mark of 91. Waterloo Quay ran well recently at Uttoxeter. The 7 yr old is lightly raced and is worth a market check. GUGUSS COLLONGES showed promising signs in a handicap hurdle at Stratford and the good ground should be more suited to his chances. Guguss Collonges gets the tentative pick here to enter the winners circle

4.55 - A few in with decent changes in the bumper Favour and Fortune was an impressive winner last time out but slight preference is for GUARD DUTY who was a nice winner of a bumper at Southwell on good ground in November. The 2nd in that race won a bumper next time out to frank the from and has already beaten Alright Dai who to be fair is likely to improve for that run also Billy Boi Blue was a good winner in a Huntingdon bumper and should go close again today.

PLAY SMARTER

STOLEN SILVER arrives on the back of a career-best second at Cheltenham so there’s a good chance he can dominate this smaller field. Knight In Dubai is worth another chance to build on his promising comeback and is feared most ahead of Mackenberg, who was left with plenty to do when his winning run came to an end at Doncaster.

Edwardstone recorded an impressive 4 and a quarter length length victory in this race last year over Third Time Lucki.

This marked the fourth straight victory for the in-form gelding who had won over this course and distance the previous November

In last years race he was sent off the hot favourite. He jumped well, jockey Tom Cannon keeping in a strong position from the start.

The nine-year-old took the lead 4 out, before staying on strongly in the straight to extend his advantage, eventually ridden out a fairly comfortable winner Since that victory, Edwardstone has gone on to win the Arkle at Cheltenham (March) and the Tingle Creek at Sandown (December) both Grade 1’s.
